More like the second world war. If Japan had won and taken California then all hollywood media since 1946 would be anime. All advertisements, propaganda, sports, clothing, just about everything in the world would be anime themed.

Would anime even be in any state close to what it is now if they won? I feel like the anti-war ideals defined a good portion of memorable classics, and I can’t imagine a successful Japan would’ve had such reservations.

Also without Disney I wonder what the state of the animation industry as a whole would be like. It certainly doesn’t seem like talent or techniques are passed down easily, so we might have an entirely different concept of what “normal” for anime is.
