>>5854It's definitely better than I was expecting. I thought it would crash and burn after the crazy first episode, but it's staying pretty grounded and telling good stories. I'm glad they give each case at least a couple episodes so we can dig in to the emotions of the situation before the action resolves things.
It really says something that it can pull a "humans are the real demons" and not have me immediately drop the show.

I keep thinking I'm watching this show because it's good, but the conbini scene in the latest episode reminded me I'm watching it for the lulz.
No.9532
>>9531Well,
I think it's good. It's just that the modern day stuff is very... tacky? Maybe they'll justify it eventually, but currently it certainly clashes with the theme.

I have no idea who the smithery characters were.
>Ofuu truly is cute and wonderful
Indeed. The best wife a man can have.

>>9915>killing his wifeRight. That's what I thought. Didn't realize that was a flashback.

>>9918Yeah, her. I kind of struggle to remember characters from episodes 3 months ago.
I didn't dislike her, I just mean she wasn't the mature beauty type. But, she might grow into one. I can't remember if anything happened to her, didn't she just disappear after the time skip? Looking at screenshots again and I'm reminded of how Jinya and her drifted apart, I guess she would tie into the current inner conflict of his.
Or she's just never seen again...

Decided against better judgement to see what 4/a/ was saying about a show I like. (I never do this for obvious reasons)
They have screenshots of things I didn't notice since I was watching on a dim screen at night.
Worse than the uncolored background here
>>10417 is a transparent layer still left here in this frame.
They must have REALLY rushed on this episode.

Finished it finally. I was procrastinating a little bit because I didn't want it to end.
I figured they weren't going to "resolve" things, and I guess it's true that they didn't, but at the same time there was indeed a type of resolution and I feel satisfied. A major story arc ended at episode 22, so 23 and 24 were more like a bonus chapter.
It wrapped things up very nicely, involving the different eras in a way that felt natural with a new character.
In usual Japanese ending fashion some things are just implied, but with the way Jinya speaks I guess it's obvious that Ofuu and of course his daughter are long gone. But, he still finds joy in living his long life in finding new people that may his life worth living. A very obvious analog to getting older in real life, which is something I'm starting to relate to more and more.
I'm really going to miss this show and seeing what the wonderful cast of characters was getting up to each week. The women were cute in a very endearing and idealized yet authentic way, and it also filled me with those "I wish I had a daughter" feelings some of these shows are really good at imparting. The demon slaying may be the overt focus, but it's the human parts that made it great.
The only flaw is there there were some budget issues at times and there are quite a few loose threads left, but I guess there's only so much you can do with 23 episodes of a book adaptation. I can't say I have any plans to the source material, if it's even available in English. Seems like there's a manga adaptation as well, so maybe I could look into that.
I just lack the motivation to get into manga or novels, though, when compared to the visual and audio splender of anime.
So I guess this is goodbye to Kijin Gentoushou as I don't think it will get another season.

>>11425>with the way Jinya speaks I guess it's obvious that Ofuu and of course his daughter are long gone.Of course Nomari is long gone, but I can't help but wonder about Ofuu. You'd expect her to live as long as Jinya. Did they ever meet up again during that ~150 year stretch after all their old human contacts passed away? They must have gotten lonely at some point.
Maybe I just find the idea of two fellow travelers on the long road of history too romantic to pass up on, but I can't imagine them forgetting about each other. Even if Jinya never reached out, Ofuu seems like the type to arrange an "accidental" encounter.
No.11436
>>11432Yeah, they really were building a great rapport and it seemed like they were made for each other as relatively normal demons with long lives. I'm guessing they meet up again at some point in the novel, as it seems too significant to brush off. It's a story hook that will keep people wondering, but it's all out there somewhere in a book if someone wanted to find out.
I wonder how far the manga adaptation is since it started in 2021.
