I never really saw Madoka as a "deconstruction".

>>123936Usually deconstruction means something negative and Madoka is just a straight forward retelling of a normal magical girl story, whereas deconstructions tend to be bad retellings of the stories they're parodying.

>>123946>The creation doesn't exist for its own sake but for the ulterior motives of some pretentious buffoon, that's why they always suck. This is definitely wrong. Every creation exists for a specific purpose, to convey some form of value through an experience, and if criticizing something makes you a buffoon then.... what do you have left, iyashikei?

>>123941I don't think deconstruction is
inherently negative, people just often treat it that way because it can be seen as an attack on a genre. It's the "mature entertainment for mature adults" thing. It's an easy way to make something seem deep and it tends to judge the concept of beauty and happiness and magic and imagination and so on in a cynical way.
In Madoka (do I need to spoiler-ize Madoka?)
the girls receive torment and eternal suffering for wishing to become a magical girl to help people. It's some critique about wishing for magic to solve your problems and Faustian bargains blahblahblah 2deep4u stop believing in magic. It's a great show, though, but it's a weird situation because I'm sure there's like 50x more people that know Madoka than the genre it "subverts" and the vast majority of them would hate those other shows.
When you get too many subversions and deconstuctions they become the new baseline and the original is lost, but that hasn't happened here thankfully.

See the real issue is that nobody wants to do Reconstructions of story (excusing the trope term for a moment), it's easier to tear down and mock the idea then to rebuild the idea using the past tropes and making them more fitting.
