>>119522I started drawing when I was a child, you could say my style is pseudo anime garfield with how I draw curves. I had to spend years learning to draw characters by just drawing their shapes and forms repeatedly. The first thing I did was just freeform draw the body, make as many mistakes as possible until what I get starts to look closer to what I want. I started in 1997 just drawing Mario with solid markers, draw the overall shape, buttons, hat, mustache (the interesting part, which really teaches you freeform shapes), then facing him to the side. Yes it sounds boring and generic, but drawing is like walking where you have to crawl before you walk. Don't feel like you have to immediately draw the mona lisa, even if your art starts as picasso in his cubism phase. The works you have seen me draw since 2023 were a culmination of several years worth of works I did in the past, but I did go into a slump after 2014 because college and life got hard, so less time to draw. Forcing myself to draw something every day did help me regain my skill, even if it was small and mundane. I personally like doing requests because it forces me out of the box to try my interpretation of someone elses idea, which is why you see me make these threads every so often.
