If I use my strength to lift and move heavy things around for her in her workshop, use my height to reach for things she can't otherwise reach (because she's short and can't fly), AND open the jar of pickles for her, does that make me manly enough for her CONSIDERING that whenever we go out she's the one who has protect to me from Youkai because she can drive tanks?

Asking for a friend.

 No.119342

>>119341
It can not be helped. You can't drive a tank. You're helping in ways you can, and that's manly anonymous. You could ask her to teach you to fight off the Youkai with her tanks though.

I'm weak, short, lightweight, easily scared, and have low self-esteem (warranted, but still), so i'm going to guess that it'd be a clear "no".

If you're supporting each other with your strengths and cover your weaknesses, then i'd call it a good and healthy relationship, manly or not!

No not at all
My work ethic is shot due to depression, I'm autistic, overweight, and broke.
Best I can do is make her laugh a bit and hope my height makes her tingle somehow...

Remi is wealthy enough to not need a breadwinner, and she already has staff to take care of things like home maintenance. I bet the manliest thing she'd expect from you is being brave enough to share some of your blood with her. And what Remi lover wouldn't jump at the opportunity?

Phew, thank god.
>You could ask her to teach you to fight off the Youkai with her tanks though.
No can do, Rika's a genius engineer and I'm just a normal person. I'll just settle for helping her in my unga-bunga ways.

>>119414
Not necessarily saying that's not a piece of sound advice, but it's advice I don't need to hear! I already know our relationship is good and healthy!

>>119557
>she'd expect from you is being brave enough to share some of your blood with her
Remi's canonically got a light apetite, so you probably wouldn't actually need to be as brave as you might think. She'd nevertheless probably appreciate the sentiment, though.
>I'm sure Rika would build a two-seater tank if you asked!
Most tanks are already 2+ seaters! However they all only have 1 commander, and there's no chance of that being me if she's around...

Anon I dunno why you assume you must be a tank engineer to attract her. In the same way that opposites attract and people love telling others about their passions as long as you appreciate then she'll love it.
Plus just think of how excited she'd be to have someone who'd want to play loader/driver/test pilot to their mad scientists

YOU WILL DO FINE

The more I hear about Rika from Touhou, the more I think this Rika was very much based on her.
Does she make inappropriate jokes too?

Rika is kind of a non-character
she has a couple of lines of dialogue and that's that.

>>119642
Anon I appreciate the pep talk but she's already my waifu so don't misunderstand! The attraction is mutual and the relationship is healthy, no doubts there.
Like somebody else (and even, to some extent, you) said, we can support eachother with our strengths and cover our weaknesses. I just personally think it's far more preferable to get out of somebody's way when they're doing something that they're much better than you at, lest you just get in their way and make it worse. Unless they specifically ask you to help out, of course. Doesn't mean I'm useless to her! I've got my skills and she's got hers.

>>119647
>I think this Rika was very much based on her
I very highly doubt it, she's not very popular at all, like >>119648 said she doesn't have a lot of dialogue nor a big (story) role in the game she's in.
She is a much more interesting character than people give her credit for though, she's got the honor of having been a lot of the franchise's firsts which make her very special in Touhou both from an in-universe and out-of-universe perspective.
¥ first human boss
¥ first boss with dialogue
¥ first vehicle-riding character
¥ first extra-stage boss
¥ first character to appear as a boss more than once in the same game
¥ first character to appear both as a regular boss and extra stage boss in the same game
Keep in mind that it'd take nearly a decade (and in the last one's case, EXACTLY a decade) for another character to do some of these.
In-universe she's also a complete wildcard though, she wears contemporary modern-day clothes and drives tanks despite Touhou's setting being completely antithetical to both of those things, and she's also an enemy of Reimu and can control (and create) ghost minions in spite of being just a regular human. She's got some sort of grudge against the Hakurei but we're just never told what it is. So yeah, dialogue-wise she doesn't have much to her, which makes it fair to call her a non-character, but if you don't single her out and instead look at her as a TOUHOU character she sticks out like a sore thumb, I think she's a great "show don't tell" type of character.
>Does she make inappropriate jokes too?
She doesn't jokes, period. She's got typical "cocky cartoon villain" dialogue, closest thing she's got to a joke is the verbal tic of attaching "nanodesu" to the end of most of her sentences, but that's more of a cute thing than a funny thing IMO. That does brings me to the fact though that if there's any character out there that's based on Touhou Rika it's Higurashi Rika, as she not only shares the name but also has that same verbal tic, and Ryukishi07 was a Touhou fan at the time. That's probably the only Rika reference in media that I know of, and even still it's not one that's 100% confirmed. Just speculation.
