>>119642Anon I appreciate the pep talk but she's already my waifu so don't misunderstand! The attraction is mutual and the relationship is healthy, no doubts there.
Like somebody else (and even, to some extent, you) said, we can support eachother with our strengths and cover our weaknesses. I just personally think it's far more preferable to get out of somebody's way when they're doing something that they're much better than you at, lest you just get in their way and make it worse. Unless they specifically ask you to help out, of course. Doesn't mean I'm useless to her! I've got my skills and she's got hers.
>>119647>I think this Rika was very much based on herI very highly doubt it, she's not very popular at all, like
>>119648 said she doesn't have a lot of dialogue nor a big (story) role in the game she's in.
She is a much more interesting character than people give her credit for though, she's got the honor of having been a lot of the franchise's firsts which make her very special in Touhou both from an in-universe and out-of-universe perspective.
¥ first human boss¥ first boss with dialogue¥ first vehicle-riding character¥ first extra-stage boss¥ first character to appear as a boss more than once in the same game¥ first character to appear both as a regular boss and extra stage boss in the same gameKeep in mind that it'd take nearly a decade (and in the last one's case, EXACTLY a decade) for another character to do some of these.
In-universe she's also a complete wildcard though, she wears contemporary modern-day clothes and drives tanks despite Touhou's setting being completely antithetical to both of those things, and she's also an enemy of Reimu and can control (and create) ghost minions in spite of being just a regular human. She's got some sort of grudge against the Hakurei but we're just never told what it is. So yeah, dialogue-wise she doesn't have much to her, which makes it fair to call her a non-character, but if you don't single her out and instead look at her as a TOUHOU character she sticks out like a sore thumb, I think she's a great "show don't tell" type of character.
>Does she make inappropriate jokes too?She doesn't jokes, period. She's got typical "cocky cartoon villain" dialogue, closest thing she's got to a joke is the verbal tic of attaching "nanodesu" to the end of most of her sentences, but that's more of a cute thing than a funny thing IMO. That does brings me to the fact though that if there's any character out there that's based on Touhou Rika it's Higurashi Rika, as she not only shares the name but also has that same verbal tic, and Ryukishi07 was a Touhou fan at the time. That's probably the only Rika reference in media that I know of, and even still it's not one that's 100% confirmed. Just speculation.
