It’s much more “realistic,” I guess than anime, but the quantity of lines can never alter the fact that drawings idealise, are an ideal and material thing at the same time. I might (god forbid) fall in love with a 3DPD woman and see her like she’s a marble statue, but the art is art already and for everybody, not just me. That’s true even of oil paintings. There are people whose 3DPD tastes will overwhelm all ability to see this portrait as feminine (which I agree it is), but especially for otaku who live around 2D all the time, it’s possible to see the femininity and attractiveness of this portrait without being into men. . . At the same time, within 2D, not speaking about 3DPD, it is, you know, kinda gay.
