How do people find ways to sleep in the heat?

On top of my bed. No fans or AC so I just leave my windows open. I don't remove the topmost blanket because my cat likes to join me and I don't want him on my nicer sheets. I still wear socks and my winter pajamas even in summer because even though they're warm, they're long, loose and thick which protects against mosquitos. I would rather sweat through the night than let those bastards have the satisfaction of drawing my blood.

I live on an arid zone so in the summer it's almost 40C outside but if your house is correctly built then it's pretty nice inside (I live outside of the city where it's colder)

Without AC and in the middle of a heatwave? Open window at night, big fan, earplugs, a second fan, a noise machine with a mix of rain tracks, counting sheep... and sometimes benzos.

Definitely ditch the blankets and open the windows at night if your living situation allows it.
I hear conflicting advice on sleeping (nearly) naked vs. in pajamas. Apparently thin cotton pajamas can absorb sweat well enough that you feel less sticky than on soaked bedsheets, which means you're less likely to wake up from being uncomfortable. I've also heard some people put ice packs beside them on the bed without touching them directly. I'll try that tonight and report back.

Does the noise machine really make any difference on top of multiple fans and earplugs?
I can second the rest, except I've never tried benzos. Melatonin is better than nothing in a pinch.

Abduct Cirno and keep her close to your heart.

Also, if you can, please seek out air conditioned spaces during the day. It can really help reduce accumulated body stress during long heatwaves.

The earplugs only block a few decibels. the noise of thunders helps with masking the noise of retarded neighbours coming home late and stomping the floor and cars at night outside.

Well, it's more like two noise machines. A Marpac Dohm, and the phone is plugged to some speakers. The mix stops after 1 or 2 hours, but the Dohm stays up all night. Even in winter, I have extremely light sleep and too many intrusive noises, specially impact noise. Sometimes I even have to sleep with ANC earbuds because full apartments with bad soundproofing and scum of society retards that don't have a job or a reason to keep a sleep schedule and don't care about respecting your sleep. Also fuck drunkards on the street that need to scream and sing. Because on top of the heat wave, town's holidays and the only way of having fun people seem to know is drinking too much booze.

Got a standing air conditioner from gram grams and it keeps my room nice and cool and dry.

>I'll try that tonight and report back.
For those unlucky enough to still be trapped underneath the heat dome, here's my report:
I cheated, but I survived.
The ice packs didn't seem to make much of a difference when I placed them around me with no contact, so I got impatient and put one on my chest, one on my tummy, one underneath my pillow and one touching my feet.
It didn't feel like it made much of a difference at the time, but I slept well despite the 34C heat and high humidity.
Take that for what it's worth.

I feel like I would catch a cold or at least a sore throat...

That would normally be a risk, but they took less than an hour to melt in this heat.
