What was Kissu's first anime(plural)?

 No.116229

My FIRST anime was Dragon Ball. Didn't get into Z.
My first non-babbies first shonen? I think it was Kinmoza. That or YuruYuri.

 No.116230

Mine was probably either Dragon Ball Z or Naruto, first non-shounen was probably Nisekoi.

You both fortunately understood the assignment when I added plural, felt like it would be all Pokémon, Battle Shounen, and maybe a brave Miyazaki movie otherwise.
Thread inspired by the amv anon whose sister's first anime was Rosario Vampire and never watched anime again.

My first was Nagasarete Airantou, after that maybe Love Hina. Yeah I like panties. I must have rewatched Nagasarete Airantou at least five times out of nostalgia.

 No.116233

Didn't know it at the time, but either Noozles or the Litl' Bits. Kids shows back in the late 80s and early 90s were quite international with British, French and even Japanese stuff localized and on American TV. Pretty great time to be a kid for many reasons.

The very first anime I "watched" was some weird anime about magical mermaid girls that would sing to defeat evil. I say "watched" in quotation marks because all I'd do was have it running in the background while I was playing with my toys and waiting for something more interesting to air. It's my earliest memory of an anime, though. I later found out it was called Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch.

The first anime I remember watching was Doraemon, but that too was also just something that I only watched because I'd occasionally catch it running on TV while watching cartoons.

The first anime I WILLINGLY watched was Girls und Panzer, shortly after it aired.

This but with Naruto instead, it imprinted my taste for melodramatic + gorey series unfortunately. I also remember trying to watch Haruhi on those old school Flash anime piracy sites but I started with Endless 8 for some reason? And Higurashi which I also watched out of order...
>>116234
I didn't know Mermaid Melody aired on TV, was it dubbed?

 No.116238

>>116237
>was it dubbed?
Yes, the TV channel it aired on was meant for kids, so nothing in there was subbed. That reminds me, I mentioned Doraemon earlier. On that topic, I remember that Doraemon was actually the very last thing that channel would air, and then it'd switch to a looping video of the channel logo on a night sky with glittering stars in the background that said something along the lines of "It's bedtime!"
I think it did that at midnight.

 No.116240

Nee-chan got me started with Trigun when I was about 6. There were a bunch of other shows I remember but that's the one that really stood out.
I didn't go off the deep end until I found K-On! at the same time I was playing guitar a lot as a teenager.

 No.116241

The first one I can remember watching is Zatch Bell on Toonami! I can't really remember anything about it now beyond the title though.

 No.116242

First anime: Bleach
First non-babby-shounen: Sora no Otoshimono
Ikaros was my first crush.

It might have been Heidi (1974), since that one used to run all the time on a multitude of channels, after which must've come Dragon Ball and the usual suspects.
In between all those more or less unavoidable ones, my first one might've been Agent Aika, which I was actually really invested in and liked before having hit puberty.

I don't feel like I have a proper first. First anime I ever laid eyes on? Probably Sailor Moon, I feel like it used to play on Fox or WB in the 90s, I was at least aware of it. If not then Dragonball Z on Toonami. First anime that I watched on DVD was Samurai X and some Inuyasha. I later found Samurai X on Limewire and it took weeks to download. First anime when I was really getting into anime with the help of 4chan and learned about seasonal anime was K-On and Ika Musume. That is when things started to spiral.

 No.116254

Actual first might have been either Pokemon or Astro Boy, hard to tell since it was so long ago. Don't quite remember the first anime I picked up on my own, might have been Mirai Nikki. The first one I watched in Japanese with Japanese subtitles was Mitsuboshi Colors.

Either Sailor Moon or Pokémon (I was really into it as a child, I would videotape it every time I watched it)

Then in my teenage years I watched Mirai Nikki and fell in love with Yuno

Of all things it was bobobo-bo bo-bobo
It cemented my understanding that all Japanese creatives were, deep down, completely insane
Also one of the only animes I can think of where the dub is legitimately better than the sub because they actually do a great job adapting all the nonsense jokes
Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCC8KYwLvo8

I can safely say that jessie has awoken something inside me.
I also remember watching spirited away probably around the same time. I remember being scared shitless from that.

Then I didn't watch anything for a while.
The first one after that was Berserk I think.

either GITS '95 or SAC. SAC still remains my top fav and i make sure to rewatch it every year. It healed me of my misconceptions on anime but apart from it and some other high brow shows i never really gotten deep into anime. What has really gotten me to start watching anime was 0079 Gundam after that i started to watch every tomino flick, every 80s mecha every 90s mecha, every gundam, macross, brave and so on.

Pokemon, Digimon, Cardcaptors, and Sailor Moon as a kid. I watched anime my whole life after that, but only less mainstream stuff after I found 4chan.

First manga was Keroro Gunsou.

Heidi is an interesting case, as it predates the concept of "anime" as we know it in the west. People nostalgic about it that watched it in the late 70s or early 80s don't even consider that it came from japan until you ask them to remember in which language the credits were. Interestingly, that did not happen with Mazinger.

I was too young to remember a lot from Heidi when it was broadcasted again. The first animes I truly followed were Dragon Ball (without the Z), Saint Seiya and Karasu Tengu Kabuto. This last one pissed off parents when kids learned to draw a certain symbol.

You're making me turn the clock way back lol.
When I was a little kid, I liked watching Howl's Moving Castle on TV. Throughout my early teenage years, I would get very small bits and pieces of exposure to Pokemon. I remember seeing that infamous Professor Ivy episode airing.
Later on, I would get bits and pieces of Dragon Ball exposure.
The first actual show I watched was One Punch Man. Afterwards, it was Kill La Kill. Moar from there

That brings some weird memories. City Hunter would only air between 3 and 5 AM, the adult programming block. Those channels never respected the schedule. Using a entire 180 minutes tape, it started so late that only 15 minutes were recorded at the end of the tape.

 No.116338

Why'd you give the title such a gross name? Full metal alchemist was the first one that I'd classify as anime. Naruto would otherwise be the first one I've watched.
