>>116227No, I really can't get behind this idea, sorry. I know Kanako is not as individually powerful as she would like people to think. For instance, Suwako performs all the actual blessings. Kanako is merely the one in charge of "marketing". She's the face of the shrine, but she is in fact, a bit of a dork. And I love her for it. She won a battle a long long time ago and got the shrine, and that's about all. I don't doubt she is powerful, as she can subsist on faith, but the fact is, she's just a kami, which isn't THAT incomprehensibly strong. She has no fortunes beyond Gensokyo because she wouldn't have gone to the small population of Gensokyo if she could maintain her presence in the real world.
Despite this, I absolutely adore this woman and for the past some years, I've been trying to live in a way that would allow me to better support her goals. Even if she is fictional, I find purpose in the idea of being able to contribute to her.

>>116203yes... i personally think that Reimu would do ok, she is fairly smart, has good intuition and enough power to keep problems(and probably everyone else) away, meaning that she wouldnt have to be right on top of me to keep me under her area of control. she may be a bit grumpy, but this often directed towards people or things causing her trouble and forcing her to do extra work, so i dont think she would be violent or prone to anger, not towards me at least, just towards things that may have been trying to mess with me or her time with me.
there is another thing i have read before that i would like to address too, which is the problem of trouble makers trying to get to her by messing with me, and while i understand the reasoning, i think it would be the opposite in this case, i imagine her object of obsession being kidnapped would make her go full crimson slasher mode and go on a war path against
everything, something the major powers of gensokyo(or anyone really) would rather avoid.
ultimately, i dont think that life would be all that bad, she would probably try to include me into everything se does, this being ceremonies, festivities and probably even investigations, which would probably make her teach me how use seals and other blessed tools to defend myself
so yes... if it were Reimu, i wouldnt protest once, not only because i can't, but mainly because i would enjoy it

How long had it been since you saw the sun? Weeks, perhaps. It was hard to tell the time, locked in this room as you where. No windows, with only the occasional visit from your captor to mark the passage of time. Occasionally she comes in to deliver food or chat at you, but most of the time she came in to add to her work.
Plastered over the walls and ceiling are photos. Photos of you. From before you were captured to now. You chatting with your new friends, going to a festival, and sleeping in your bed. Your captor sometimes made edits to them, inserting herself into the pictures like she was meant to be there. The lighting was a little off, the perspective not quite right, and she was always in focus even when she shouldn't be. It'd be less unsettling if she just stuck to the stalker photos.
You don't even know why she's so interested in you, you never even met before she whisked you away. You tried to ask her once, but the second you brought up the name of the only other crow tengu you knew... You didn't ask again.
Your only hope was someone noticed you'd vanished and tried to figure out where you'd gone. Your captor was just like you from before you arrived in Gensokyo, a shut-in, though a lively one, so trying to sneak out when she's elsewhere is a non-starter.
On the bright side, when she brings in her newspaper to read the articles at you, it's better than Bunbunmaru.

----
In a fit of boredom you took a closer look at one of the photos. It was one of the older ones, taken from before you were captured. It was at a festival, and in the photo you were talking with Hatate, your captor. Of course, in reality you hadn't even met at this point in time. She had just pasted herself over who you were actually talking to. Sanae, the Moriya miko, if you remembered the occasion correctly. You wondered why only some where edited. All the newer ones weren't, of course, as she could just take them as is with herself in the frame. But some of the older ones were left as is.
What was the common factor? After a quick glance around, it appeared that it was Hatate only appeared when there was someone else in the photo, in which she covered up whoever was closest to you in that photo. This was evident in a small series taken at the same festival as before, where over the course of several photos Hatate jumped between covering up Marisa, Reimu, Sakuya, and Rinnosuke, when you wandering through the festival and came across the group and stopped for a quick chat.
Then, your gaze turns to one of the older photos of you sleeping. Hatate had edited herself leaning over your sleeping form. You took a closer look. Hatate had one of her hands go behind your head, as if she was patting it. But Hatate hadn't quite cropped her arm long enough. Her arm didn't match the wrist that was attached. Someone else was in your room at night. Who?
Before you could dwell on this further, the door opened. In came Hatate, carrying a tray. Was this supposed to be lunch or dinner? It felt a little early for dinner, but who knew what time it really was. Regardless, you were starting to feel a little peckish.
"Hey there, Anon," she said. "You doing alright?" She set down the tray and took out her phone. You gave a slight nod, though your real feelings were more on the line of wishing you were anywhere else.
"That's good. I have new article I'd like you to proof read later. I heard about some kind of incident with Cirno, that ice fairy, you know? Anyway she went into the village and..."
You picked up a pair of chopsticks and started eating. Today's lunch/dinner/whatever was roasted rabbit on rice. Every so often you heard a shutter sound from her phone. This was just part of this odd routine you'd settled into. You weren't sure if tengu didn't need to eat, or if she'd just have her meal later, but she'd always take photos of you while you ate while rambling on about her newspaper, her workload ("just because we're on a mountain doesn't mean they need to give us a mountain of work!"), or whatever else was on her mind that particular day.
"...so now she's-" Hatate was interrupted by a knocking sound from elsewhere in the house. "Excuse me for one sec." She got up and left the room.
As she did so she left a slight gap in the door. You crawled over and stuck your head through the gap. You could see the entrance from here, where Hatate was conversing with a wolf tengu.
"What's this about?" Hatate asked. You'd never heard her so irritated before.
"The big shots want to hold a meeting, now," the wolf tengu replied. "Don't know why, but regardless I wouldn't want to be late, and likely neither would you."
Hatate sighed, and you slipped back into the room. She walked back over to your room and stuck her head in. "Sorry Anon, I really need to go now. Be good, kay?" Before you could reply, she ran out, once again forgetting to close the door.
Was she really gone? You stuck your head through again. Nobody in sight.
With no small amount of trepidation, you got up and stepped into the hallway. You tried to suppress the excitement rising in your heart. You still weren't in the clear yet. Not until you were back in the village and far away from any possessive tengu. But if what the wolf tengu said was true, you weren't going to get another chance like this for quite a while.
Every step towards the exit was one taken listening for any sounds of her return. One step. Two steps. Three steps. Still, nothing. Was it really going to be that easy?
A few moments later, you left her house and saw the sun. This was it. All you needed to do was get off this damn mountain. Which was easier said than done, admittedly, but baby steps.

You wished you were more on top of Gensokyo's geography. Aside from "down the mountain", you didn't have a good idea of where the human village actually was. If you ran into a wolf tengu, maybe you could ask them to drop you off at the village. Though it seemed that they were all absent, probably at the meeting Hatate was also caught up in.
It did make you worried about running into any youkai who wandered up into what was nominally tengu territory. A Kappa would be fine, you've met a few before and while you don't trust the self-proclaimed friends of humans all that much, they were better than most alternatives. The misfortune goddess would point you in the right direction if you came across her. On the other hand, her misfortune might rub off on you and you'd end up right back in Hatate's clutches.
You shook your head, no point in worrying about maybes at this point, just one foot in front of the other. Your throat was starting to get a little dry, probably from all the walking you were doing. How long had it been since you'd escaped her house, 20-30 minutes? That felt about right.
Suddenly, a blur rushed past you and you fell flat on your ass. "Oh? If it isn't Anon. What are you doing here?" a familiar voice said. "I hadn't seen you for quite some time."
Aya Shameimaru. A tengu reporter you'd talked to in the past. She was really pushy about getting all sorts of details on your life, to the point were if you answered all her questions she might know you better than you yourself. Despite how often she interviewed you, you never saw an article about you in her newspaper, which she delivered to you every time she published a new issue despite the fact you never subscribed to her.
You avoided the question and instead asked her about the meeting that all the tengu were forced to attend.
"Oh, that? It was just the big shots patting themselves on the back for hitting a new milestone of newspaper sales for 2 hours. Though, I wonder, how did you hear about that?" she replied.
Should you answer her? You're not quite sure if you should trust her, based on your past experiences with tengu, but then again she probably won't leave you alone until she gets what she wants. You take a deep breath and explain what happened. The kidnapping, being stuck at Hatate's house for a month, and your eventual escape.
"I see..." Her voice was abnormally cold, and despite how warm it was today, you felt a chill down your spine. But before you could think about it further, Aya returned to her usual self. "You must be heading back to the village then, right? Though, you're going in the wrong direction. You won't make it back before dark, so why don't I take you back to my place?"
Before you could reply, Aya swept you off your feet and carried you back up the mountain in a flash. You
were getting a bit tired, but during your trip you could have sworn the sun was rising during your journey. Must have been your imagination.
No.121328

----
Your first time flying was quite an experience, though it wasn't a long one. The fastest in Gensokyo was still pretty fast carrying you, and you knew this was nowhere near her top speed, even while taking you for a trip. But did she have to use princess carry?
Aya set you down inside. "Make yourself at home. For your own good you should stay inside until I come back." With that, she closed the door behind her, and with a gust of wind she disappeared. Probably off to bother someone about something inane.
You start wandering around. Scattered about her house were various notebooks and photographs. What a messy girl. You had half a mind to clean up for her, but maybe there was some esoteric system at play here? Probably best to leave it alone for the time being.
Maybe you should cook something for her? Then again you had no idea when she'll be back, and cooking wasn't something you were especially good at anyway. Perhaps when she comes back you could make the offer? Yeah, that sounded like a good idea. Your plan decided, you resumed your aimless wandering.
Her house was modest in size, and you quickly found her bedroom (which you only peeked inside, you didn't want to intrude), kitchen, and various miscellaneous rooms. Now, there was one room left to investigate. You slid the door open and your eyes went wide.
You tried to convince yourself what you were seeing wasn't true. That it was all a joke, or there was some other explanation as to what was going on, but reality wasn't so kind.
Photos covered the wall. Photos of you. Just like Hatate. You recognised some from Hatate's place, except these ones didn't an out of place crow tengu inserted into them, these were the real deal. And then there was the photo of your bedroom, and the true identity of the figure leaning over your sleeping form was revealed.
Aya.
You had to get out of here. You rushed out of the house and headed back down the mountain. Your stomach was starting to protest that it hadn't been fed for ages, but there was no time to worry about that. Get off this cursed mountain, then you'd worry about everything else.
Off in the distance you saw flashing lights, a danmaku battle? Chances are it was a tengu versus someone else, and given you were two for two on the tengu you know being insane you decided to avoid the area as best you could. Unfortunately it was in your path off the mountain, so you needed to make a detour.
You were too tired and hungry to run further, so you began to walk. You hadn't seen any wolf tengu so far, but perhaps they'd escort you back to the village? Best not to rely on them, given your luck with tengu so far they'd probably tie you up and drag you off to who-knows-where.
As you continued down the mountain with the danmaku battle at your left, said battle came to an end. Still, it was too risky to turn towards it, so you maintained your current path. You hoped you were heading in the right direction in the first place. Aya's words from before rang in your mind. Was she telling the truth, or was she lying to make sure you wouldn't resist her "rescue"? To be honest you weren't sure if you were heading in the same direction as your last escape attempt.
But that musing was brought to an end as a white blur knocked you to the ground. You tried to get up, but a sword hovering by your throat brought an end to that. "Try not to hurt him, Momiji," Aya said. Your heart sank. This was it, wasn't it. You saw Aya holding a camera in her hands as she approached, and to the right of her holding a length of rope was... Hatate?!
The now named Momiji huffed. "You don't need to tell me twice," she replied. Her eyes were cold, but more on the side of treating you like an annoyance rather than the smouldering obsession that Aya and Hatate had. You weren't sure which was better.
"Hatate and I had a 'chat'," Aya began, "and came to the conclusion that, despite how we wished otherwise, we're going to have to share." You weren't sure what the contents of that chat were, but you had an inking that it was connected to that danmaku battle you saw.
As Hatate moved to tie you up, Momiji withdrew her blade and said "I'm going back now. If I get in trouble for leaving my post I'm blaming the two of you. Don't forget what you owe"
"Yeah yeah, a century's worth of sake. You'll get it," Aya said without leaving your eyes. She then leaned down and stroked your cheek. "Let's go back now, okay?"
You were never going to leave this mountain.
