Can someone tell me how they fall in romantic love with Gacha characters like this? I look at them and all I can think about is plapping the kuso out of them and not much else that I'd be interested in. There's not much of a character to care about besides the sex appeal.

If you're desperate enough to subject yourself to a gacha then it's pretty safe to assume that all it's really gonna take is a few nice words from a pretty lady.

 No.115450

I don't play gacha so I don't know how fleshed out characters get. I can imagine people just mistake lust for love.

I don't play gacha
I just like stealing characters from gachas and making my own thing out of it.

Pretty sure every gacha has you assemble a harem or else they wouldn't have something new to sell you every month. Romantic stuff really can't exist in such a situation when you're constantly rolling for new girls just to "compete" with all that FOMO event stuff. It's the total opposite of slow and relaxing VNs where you pursue the girl you like the most.
It's a different demographic, though, I don't think anyone playing gacha really feels that they're missing anything. They like it (or are addicted to it) so it works for them.
A shame gacha killed so many things but it's just a sign of the times.

I stopped playing GF2 but none of the characters in the game were like that when I was.

NTA but I feel like the one thing gachas (and mobage in general) killed was the word "gamer" itself, it's always really disappointing meeting people who call themselves that only to find out that they only play mobile games.
In hindsight I guess the feeling of disappointment isn't too far off from when back in the day you'd meet a gamer and they only played Counter-Strike and/or League of Legends, but at the very least those two are computer games, y'know?

interesting. to me variety gamers aren't really gamers you have to stick with 1 thing and be its master to have the holy title of a Gamer. gachas are quite grindy and require minmaxxing spreadsheet work for optimal harem building its dull and stupid but its gaming.

 No.115500

>>115499
Spreadsheet gaming isn't dull, you're just bad at it.
Uma is very simple when you spend a couple months to read through all the documentation and understand how all the logarithmic functions work

I get where you're coming from, but I don't fully agree, or rather, I think there's some nuance to it, I think it just depends on how in-depth you actually go into each game you play. If you only interact with them at a surface-level, and if your selection of games happen to just be trends, then yeah I'd say all that variety doesn't really amount to much in the grand scheme of things, but at the same time I don't think someone who only dedicates their time to playing 1 or 2 games likes videogames, I think they just like those games. Imagine if I liked an anime, but just THAT single anime, nothing else. I wouldn't call myself an anime fan because that's not true, that should imply you like the genre as a whole and as such watch at least a handful, right? I'd just say I like that single anime and call it a day. It's kind of like that with games for me. Maybe it's a bit elitist.

The grim reality is because it's a gatcha and the women are pokemon cards.

Last decade it was p2w MMOs, but the only difference was that you'd fight against others and there would be some sort of ingame community/clans.

With the vast majority of them I agree. Many are overdesigned or uninspired and rely on sex appeal to sell. You cant get attached because of the nature of gacha requiring a constant influx of new characters and outfits leading to older characters getting sidelined barring popular exceptions.
There are some outliers if doujinshi is anything to go by. Blue Archive Wakamo is to my understanding not accessible outside of events, so you cant really collect her in the same way as other dime-a-dozen gacha shabs. This constant blue-balling in the gacha sense, in turn with her personality being what it is, makes her attractive as a waifu and the sheer number of doujinshi with her kinda supports that.

Still, I dislike gacha because it promotes excessive promiscuity and cheating on your waifu. Dont cheat on your waifu with bargain bin shabs. You're better than that!

I remember playing dating sim back in the day and thinking "man wouldn't it be amazing if they could just make one that had dialogues and scenes updated daily so you could just talk to the same girl forever instead of them basically dying when the game is over"
I guess gacha basically is that. Ironically the Love Plus gacha died, that was what I was thinking about that idea in reference to.

I don't understand what you mean. I think of "love" as more of a romantic thing where you want to be together bound to the other person forever and "lust" as a thing for which you'd describe looking at some sexy gacha shab like in the OP who you'd never really consider a partner for life yet would shag any day of the week given the chance. I mean, do you really say that for every single anime shab you find hot you'd also go and propose and be willing to put up with them for eternity if given the chance? Because I can say that I sure wouldn't for a fair bit of characters.

For example, Ai is beautiful and sexy and I want to rail her and all, but she is NOT good wife material.
