You are the chief, man. You are the one who is writing the story. The MC can be someone with WAY too much luck like Rance or someone like Grimm. What the guys care about is the girls; they want sexy girls with personalities, and the closer they are to their canon personality, the better it is, and if you want the awesome then take some liberties and make them slighty act different than they're supposed to do. Like the stern and impassable Eirin showing subtle signs of affection if you do the right choices, leading to even bigger rewards (possible romance).
