They're both very different types of dishes and are "curry" in name only really. I like both, fancy lamb curry from the local curry house, and that dirt cheap divine katsu curry I had in Akihabara. Oh, and there are Thai curries as well which are also really good, and again very different from Indian curry.

I think the Japanese have some sort of collective unconscious complex over that curry because there's like a 70% chance in any isekai or foreign situation where they show it off and all the gaijin peasants have an orgasm over it.

I vastly prefer Japanese curry to Indian curry, but then again most Indian foods taste awful apart from their bready stuff which is pretty nice. I think it's mostly the texture that is unbearable.
