>>107909I'm sure it's going to be different for everyone, and for me it's a little tough to describe succinctly.
I guess if I had to boil it down to a few key points it would be:
Her friendly personality and bright demeanor are appealing to me.
She has a lot of implied depth, especially in regards to how she carries herself in public vs her more introspective private self.
I love how she's portrayed as this hard working underdog in a world of people with immeasurable and monstrous power, it makes her easy to cheer for.
Lasers are cool.
>I'm personally more of a Reimu fan so I don't really get her.I used to be a fan of Reimu too but she's really fallen out of favor over time due to numerous writing decisions ZUN has made with her. I actually really liked the scene in FS where Reimu killed the Fortune Teller, I felt it was compelling in the sense that it demonstrated that Reimu is committed to her role and it laid the foundation for an interesting conflict of interests down the road, but then it and everything it set up was seemingly undermined as Reimu just dodges the ethical dilemma of Kosuzu going down a similar path in FS's utterly disappointing conclusion. Reimu also just kind of became a dumb jobber in games like SFW and UDoALG and in the manga CDS, which didn't really help matters. Speaking of CDS, I though Mizuchi was insufferable so I'm sure you can imagine how I felt about Reimu's halfassed solution to the Mizuchi problem. The way ZUN has been treating both main heroines since LoLK has been pretty disappointing, but it feels like Reimu gets it worse since she's
the main character.

To be fair, he’s an old man now, he probably doesn’t care about his games that much anymore now that they’re so popular. His latest game was filled with messaging about AI that nobody cares about except Reddit trannies. I think he just wants to make the games and doesn’t care how the characters act or what the story should be now since normalgods will just play or not care about the story anyways.

>>107919>His latest game was filled with messaging about AIHe doesn't really even say that much about AI. You could really just boil it down to two things:
1. There is a lot of AI garbage out in the wild.
2. AI is a thing and it's best to just accept it for what it is.
It's a very milquetoast take on the topic.
Also you forgot to post
Marisa.

It's pretty obvious that he has different priorities now.
I don't really hold any ill will towards him for that, but I do think that he should just finish the ongoing print works and just retire.

>>107919Honestly his implementation of AI as a subject in FW pales in comparison to how awful the NFT/crypto chapter in LE was. I'd even say he did a pretty good job in 20, it's not too "in your face" and he managed to make it fit within universe.
The crypto chapter in LE on the other hand just came and went and it felt super forced and out of place.

When a discussion naturally pops up, it's better to just let it run its course, rather than forcing it out of the original environment.
Also using LE thread for this feels inappropriate to me, if anything it should be a separate thread.

>>107934I suppose, I just don't particularly want to to impose myself as a new poster on the site. It's best to try to fit in with the board culture wherever you are.
As for a thread discussing Touhou grievances, while it could be an interesting discussion I'm a little hesitant if only because it's a topic that, in my experience, nobody really seems to agree on. Some people just have nitpicks, some want the games to end, and others would argue that the series was just never good at all. It ends up being kind of hard to have a coherent discussion because nobody really agrees on what Touhou should even be.
I'm also not a big fan of sentiments like "ZUN should retire", it just feels dismissive of his efforts or desires for the series.

>>107937>I'm also not a big fan of sentiments like "ZUN should retire", it just feels dismissive of his efforts or desires for the series.X should retire is a valid argument for when an artist has gone the corporate route and made so much money and given up so much personal freedom/creativity to people in suits that they lose their personal flair. This has never and will never be ZUN, so I don't see why the argument should ever be applied to him.

>>107947Me neither, I mean, my favourite Touhou game of all time is actually WBaWC, which unfortunately people seem to despise. I really liked the Hell arc, I thought the power struggles it displayed and extra lore that it added to the place was great and the Yakuza factions (plus Keiki) especially add to the place. The build-up to it in printworks and whatnot was also really cool. Gameplay-wise I thought it was super satisfying, nothing beats getting that full beast meter and becoming the boss for a little bit, just raining hell on everything you see.
FW is my second favorite, I agree with you on the shot types but at least it still has more useful shots than, say, MoF and SA
combined.
