Is it just me, or have the days in winter been longer this year? It's right around the solstice, and normally it'd be dark by 4PM where I live, but now it's staying light as as far as 5:30 or 6. Has the earth gone off its axis? Unless I'm just misremembering.....

I'd say it's close to maximum darkness at about 6:30PM here. I don't think it's any different from other years, but I could be wrong. The main thing that's different this year is that it wasn't until a couple weeks ago that we finally hit below freezing when it's normally mid to late October. Poor plants...
