Kissu's Palworld server is now online!

[link-ommited][link-ommited]:8211

We last played in January and there's been some big patches since then. For those who don't know, it's a third person building/Pokemon capturing game. I think the term is "open world crafting survival" or something, but it's Japanese so it's cute and quirky. People called it "Pokemon with guns", which is kind of true for the atmosphere but it's more than that.
For those that did play last time, here's the patch notes for the second major patch: https://[link-ommited][link-ommited]

The endgame is way overtuned and not very fun at all. I was hoping to be able to beat it via breeding and rocket launcher pals and stuff, but as I've said before it's just wasted effort. Sadly it's a pattern held by the oil rig and presumably the hard mode bosses.
They're cool ideas, but definitely need balancing.
Looking forward to playing it again, although I can see myself logging in again to mess with my base some more.

Since switching from IT to Dev Manager, I’ve realized the insane amount of bureaucratic processes we have to follow (this is just related to dev performance, I have hundreds of other processes I have to follow daily).

- Monthly self-eval: Devs must submit a detailed monthly self-evaluation
- Manager evaluation: Dev’s manager evaluates them monthly too.
- Weekly team evaluation: Dev's direct manager evaluates the "team" as a single unit every week.
- Quarterly upper management review: The direct manager’s manager steps in every quarter to assess the team as well.
- Each dev's “buddy” (more senior dev they're partnered with) performs a monthly evaluation of their performance too
- TL assesses sprint quality after each sprint.
- TL's manager reviews sprint quality too (non-technical manager)

Now, management expects me to sift through all this data weekly toghether with Jira to identify any "underperformers". They don’t see the redundancy—they just want more.
When I pointed out that the sheer volume of surveys and performance checks is beyond redundant, my manager brushed it off, accusing me of trying to "work less."
In his eyes, productivity means creating more processes. Only colleagues who add extra layers of bureaucracy get rewarded, never those who streamline.
Am I being a baby?
Feeling disillusioned... Is this really what management is supposed to be?

You reminded me I also get reviewed:
- Every quarter: by the client, my manager, my peers, PMO, people from other areas (finance, IT, account managers, etc) and also by the devs that report to me.
(Also every week I'm audited by PMO for process compliance)

What a wonderful world!!!!

That sounds like some strait up East German or Elan School petty control.

The few times I was ever given a self review I always would put just the maximum score for everything, because it was time wasting and they were going to knock me down a peg and tell me what they want me to do anyways.

I've noticed that there's a bit of talk here and there at times about big named directors like Shinbo or Ikuhara in threads about there respective anime. Similarly there's "the /qa/ voice" and a few threads in the past made about favorite seiyuu's. With the more recent Seiyuu Radio thread I got a bit more interested in asking /qa/, how much do you pay attention to who's making the anime you enjoy and how conscious of their work are you while watching?

For myself I mostly know seiyuu, studios, composers, singers, and directors since those are more the big in your face part of anime, but I also can recognize a few character designers like Akio Watanabe/Amazuyu Tatsuki. I also know a few (non-director) animators by name, though I can't really tell who's who from just watching an anime like it's occasionally possible to do with directors/studios. Not even sure if it is possible.

Maybe it's a bit meta for some people, but I think it can be valuable and give you a greater appreciation of anime you really enjoy or lead you to finding other works with them included that you may also love. It can also be an interesting experience to go through the catalog of a director to watch how they grew over the years. A similar thing applies to seiyuu, and with them there's also the feeling of hearing a new voice you don't recognize that absolutely hits it out of the park and astounds you, like Utena from MahoAko.

Somebody told me that digitization will let us preserve things forever, but I feel like it's the opposite because of how complicated accessing digital data is and how fast technological systems evolve. Old formats get superseded by updated ones and niche platform-specific ones get abandoned when that platform does. We can look at a wall relief from 5000 years ago and work out an approximation of what it was saying just by looking at it, but how would you get any data out of a floppy filled with files for a program that hasn't been updated in 100 years?

Eventually the effort of maintaining compatibility with old things is going to cause data to be effectively lost, but some formats will obviously last longer than others. Personally, I think the humble [link-ommited] file will outlast most others because its simple, yet vitally important to many basic computing tasks so you can't easily get rid of it and there's not much incentive to improve the format. That said, I could also see a specialized format that is used for something like [link-ommited] which is used pretty much just to preserve old data being maintained by enthusiasts while more general-purpose formats get killed off to force people to adopt newer ones. Which ones do you think will pass the test of time and which will be be the quickest to die out?

I still end up feeling feels from certain shows, but I find novels is much better for these big feelings. You'll be deep in center of the brain of the characters misery for hours, you'll really be living it, and when things change for the better in the novel it's like you're personally being relieved of a burden that's been weighing on you for a long time. Nothing makes me cry like a good Japanese novel.

I just started playing 'The Imperial Gatekeeper'. It's Paper's Please but in h game form. You can go full TSA on people, and I do say people because while the focus is obviously on women there's also men and shotas. It's not long into the game where you can get an item to select against seeing one gender, though.
I'm playing with some guy's content patch- do be warned that I saw an Overwatch character randomly so if you want immersion you should definitely get the base game. Apart from that it says it adds a lot of visual variety and uncensoring so I'm sticking with it. It seems rare to get these special characters, anyway.

 No.21356

Last month I was looking for the previous eroge thread, but it had already died and I was too lazy to make a new one.

I played Harumade, Kururu (https://[link-ommited]) recently. I think it's a really great game, but it's also rather hard to recommend, for various reasons. The most conspicuous is that it has severe problems with pacing. In total, this game has 23 H scenes, but they are not interspersed into the heroine routes - there are 2 scenes for each of the 4 heroines, and the other 15 constitute the prologue of the game. Since this is not a long game (around 15 hours or so), this means you will be spending the first 10~20% of the game reading H scenes almost nonstop. And what's more, they are actually quite well-written, diverse, and have foreshadowing and character development, both in the H scenes themselves and in the brief interludes in between them, so it's not advisable to skip them. I think this is the main thing that could put people off from this game.

Besides that, there is a lot of disparity in genre and quality between the 4 routes. More specifically, I didn't enjoy the first one too much, but that might be because I didn't like the heroine herself. The other 3 are really good, though. This is definitely the kind of game that gets better and better as it goes on, and each route builds off the previous one. The catharsis/payoff of the ending is immense for a game this short, I can see how some people might have problems with it, but to me it was one of those endings that leave you completely satisfied and feel like the best possible sendoff.

According to the vndb page, this game has an English translation coming out this year, so definitely give it a try if you enjoy sci-fi. (Yes, this is a sci-fi game. You may have noticed that I haven't really written anything about what the story is like - that's because most things I could say are probably spoilers.)

Idk if text games count but I played Lilith's throne and edited my character's exported txt files to change the stats to different anime character's (I looked up height, age etc. on wikis) and then imported them into the game as slaves so my character could have sex with them, but since it's entirely text without audio, it's not as good as just using AI or writing my own smut fanfic and it's also not as good as just playing fully voiced ero VNs... It's not all bad, just kinda repetitive, although I still liked it better than Corruption of Champions because you can change the settings in Lilith's throne so that you only encounter human mobs instead of furries and I also liked it better than Degrees of Lewdity because in that one you can basically only bottom.
I miss playing Togainu no Chi but getting it to work on my new pc is just kinda tedious. I started playing the PSP version but unlike the pc one it's entirely SFW so it wouldn't count as erotic game...

I feel as though calling things like the Parry slop show "high" fantasy is an insult to the genre.
