I swear, people like this were born without self-preservation instincts.
This is impressive, but more than anything it freaks me out because one mistake can cause severe repercussions for the rest of your life.
I think I'll stick to video games.

Looks like fun.

Some points: Going down hill is easy and less dangerous. Going up hill is hard. Granted, harder on a pedal bike going down hill than a dirt bike because no engine braking. But they could drag the rear wheel any time they wanted to cut speed. It isn't as dangerous as you think it is.

To the guy riding it's happening at least half speed and probably slow motion. Even more so if they got to run the course more than once. Which I'm sure they did. Even if you fall you aren't going that far before you stop and this course looks pretty safe compared to some of the places I've ridden. Has to be for insurance purposes.

Going uphill is much more dangerous because you don't have the option to stop. You're locked in from the moment you start up and if anything goes wrong it's going to hurt a lot and your bike is probably coming down on top of you.

Yeah, well, you know what else is fun? Having intact bones and organs...

They're going to fail you at some point. Ask anyone that made it to 85 and regrets not doing anything risky.

that dude cheering as he was about to get crushed by his bike

Does it not make sense doing risky stuff at 85 then?

The problem is once your body starts to fail it's harder to do risky stuff. I took an 80+ year old woman zip lining a few years ago and she had to skip half the fun because she wasn't able to do the part of the course where you were required to walk on platforms in the trees.

They're drunk.

Different people are scared of different things. I can't get on the roof of my house or at any height without freaking out. It gets worse as I age even if I try to expose myself to heights to over come it. It's so bad now that standing on a bridge spanning a high height causes the entire world to spin for me. I have to go down to my hands and knees and crawl away. I am terrified the entire time that the bridge will collapse with me on it. Same thing happens to be in high rise buildings and while riding elevators.

On the other hand. I have no fear of speed as long as I'm in control/driving. Even as a passenger I'm usually alright as long as I trust whoever is driving. I can sit at 150+mph all day on public roads or on wood courses like the one shown in the video of the OP and feel totally relaxed.

I have a friend that jumps out of airplanes for fun. I think he's insane. He thinks I'm insane because I ride motorcycles on the highway way over the speed limit while dodging traffic for fun. Different people are just wired differently.

were the constestants also drunk

Probably. Riding motorcycles drunk is fun. Most people do it.

I used to do this in San Andreas.
