Heh, first try. Enlightened is the rank above it, but it's arguably NG+. Guess all the meta finally paid off.

To other ESLs, does your native otaku community have any interesting idiosyncratic practices?

A few years ago, a new practice developed in Spanish-subbed OP/ED videos: rather than keep the subs at the bottom and/or top, they were instead both moved to the center of the screen. Large, bold italic sans serif for the translation, with smaller non-bold romaji below it. In many cases they are AMVs as well, rather than using the pre-existing video or a static image. Pic is a good example, which on top of the above has a watermark and is at 360p max, because of course it is. Compare it to these other three traditional English lyrics videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq6VhQGz-no
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeRksGNmk0w
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6JB3monBI4
I searched for OPs in Portuguese, Italian, French, Indonesian, Thai, Arabic, at a glance it doesn't seem like they do this. The Chinese do have something like it, it appears:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9IaLy7IN9M

Rather innovative imo. It looks like it started to hit the mainstream about four-five years ago, in great part thanks to a certain "meena♡" who had already been using the formula back in 2014:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlLVz75Ag_s
They've got nearly a total of two hundred million views spread throughout a hundred and four videos, the most popular of which is Naruto's OP3 from five years ago standing at 64M views:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-hzTmeCqN0
You can see it's a more primitive form because it doesn't yet feature romaji like the current standard. Neat.

The Spanish/Portuguese around this stuff does seem to be notably different from the others. They seem far less reserved and it gives them their own cultural identity. It kinda reminds me of the English internet 20 years ago to a degree. Well, at least this is my interpretation from what I've seen, I don't speak the language.

 No.2159

If I had to sum it up, I think I'd describe it as "less miserable".
People are much more forthcoming with their interests, fanfic is surprisingly more mainstream (at least with Dragon Ball, DB AF came out all the way back in 1999 and everyone knows about it, also see El Hermano de Jiren/Gohan Blanco), the attitude around loli is a lot laxer than in the anglosphere, and there isn't as much of a focus on refined taste, elitism, or fighting normalfaggotry (for better or worse). You don't have nearly as many hardcore 2D lovers as Japan's, but you don't have Anglo moralist crusaders either, and the concept of ironic weebs doesn't exist. East/west divide isn't as strong, as you can see with artists like Alkemanubis, perhaps because it's all foreign anyways.

 No.2161

(ps the XD in the thumbnail is to telegraph that the video is funny, we do have an ironic version of the emoticon but it's actually more like "xd")

 No.2162

>>2151
Also, there are like only 5 million of us, so people who are into wota stuff are few and far between, and I think most of them only hang out in English-speaking communities.

 No.2163

Yeah, I guess that's a bit of a problem with Europe.

The nice thing about spring is that the sun is (usually) still up when I wake up. The downside however is that it's bright as hell outside when I go to bed.

 No.2138

Uh... do you sleep the majority of the day?

 No.2139

Nocturnal, huh? Yeah, I end up that way most of the time, but I like winter because if I stay up way too late there's still a good chance the sun is down when I go to bed at like 6AM

Spring - Watching your weight (increase) to get beach body ready
Summer - Eating to replenish nutrients lost when sweating
Fall - Temperatures starting to cool, eat more to prepare for winter
Winter - It takes more calories to maintain warmth when it's cold, so you need to eat more

If while reading Animorphs you spend a lot of time imagining what it would be like to be controlled by a Yeerk, getting to know it and its circumstances, empathising with it even as you are aware that it is a soldier of the enemy of Earth, and showing it human experiences... doesn't that make someone an M? Like a really, really, really big M?

(pic unrelated)

 No.2006[Reply]

At one point I was worried about AI being able to replace the capabilities of other people, but upon using it and adapting it into my lifestyles I've found that it behaves in a similar way to the hypothetical brain-computer interface where you can upload skills into your head or be able to directly interface with technology.
Through introducing a chatbot Q&A style interface it's much easier to acquire information, much like you could as a kid and you could ask your parents simple questions like "why is the sky blue"(and they would say Rayleigh scattering of course). Instead of having to hunt for knowledge in books you can pick it out and have it read out to you in numerous styles.

ChatGPT lets me learn a lot of concepts which I've been unable to figure out on my own. Though I might have figured them out through working with industry pros who picked it up from other pros I've been able to put the knowledge in my own hands solely through autodidacticism.
It's ability to write out examples helps greatly for people who pick things up better through written examples than they do from reading documentation and you can ask it questions and it will do it's best to answer.

So to put it in a simply, AI seems to be a tool which is best to draw out the latent potential of humanity and push people into situations where they're capable of learning anything that their brains allow them to.
At which point we can ask the question of what is done more efficiently by human and computer... since we are fundamentally different engines... one based on computation of electric signals and the other chemical transfers between neurons.

i'm not sure, but I think I'm noticing a massive flaw in the system where it sometimes refernces articles which were never written and are no recollection of.

I ask it for a source to some information I'm skeptical of and it provides a URL of which it points to a 404 and archive.is doesn't have the URL for.
Concerning that it can't correct itself.
