What do you think changed the most between the current year and 2001?

That's, uhh... hmmm... that's too hard to answer. I guess the obvious choice might be some matter that turned into anti-matter or vise versa? Maybe something that entered into a black hole and turned into radiation or whatever it is that happens to it?

If you take a look at subjects from a very broad perspective, then the best answer possible is tech as a whole.

The quality of porn is substantially better now to the point where it makes me wonder how I even managed to get off to 2000's hentai.

Gaming has only gotten better and better and better.

You mean eromanga, right? Because in terms of overall quality animated hentai's gone down the flippin gutter last time I checked.

As in animated porn? No, ero anime still looks like trash.

the internet actually became serious business and the commercialization of culture and the corporate involvement in everything becomes worse by the day. individualism has also increased and makes for worse and less products to enjoy. on the other hand, piracy has never been easier, most things are instantly accessible and available, which lets us enjoy the products of the past without having to look for hours on end only to end up with dead links that lead nowhere.

but what changed most is probably the attitude or the "zeitgeist", which went from a rather positive, "laugh-it-off" mindset to "wow everything sucks, nothing matters and i am a victim of the world". at least that's what it looks like sometimes. people like crying and stopped laughing at everything no matter how morbid. although i guess laughing and crying are two sides of the same coin so it doesn't really matter. correct me if i'm wrong. i also think in general the world has become very "soft" or as i like to call it: "gay". it's very easy to upset someone and create lots of butthurt. that's it. might have a wrong impression, however. tell me about it.

2000s hentai is not without its appeal, but I agree about eromanga and doujinshi, it used to be vanilla as fuck

The internet got old enough that it started to become introspective. Meta discussion about the web was extremely niche until the mid-2010s, when it overtook everything.

>>94545
>individualism has also increased and makes for worse and less products to enjoy.
If you're talking about the web, I strongly disagree. The transition from highly-customizable blogging services like LiveJournal and Blogspot to largely inert social media "platforms" like Twitter and YouTube has greatly homogenized internet culture. Or, to put it differently, I wouldn't call a world where the only acceptable memes are cancerman, doge, and one or two FOTMs to be "individualist".

>but what changed most is probably the attitude or the "zeitgeist", which went from a rather positive, "laugh-it-off" mindset to "wow everything sucks, nothing matters and i am a victim of the world".
He said, writing a giant post whining about how everything sucks and none of it is his fault.

centralization doesn't mean there is no individualism and i was more referring to the rise of idol-like personalities and indie projects on a more common level. perhaps instead of increasing individualism i should have called it decreasing humility or whatever. i don't know what you're on about with the meme stuff, either -- and i also don't think i wrote a "giant" post or was whining. that's just how i see things. i wasn't complaining. even the "gay" comment. i also didn't say "none of it is my fault". where did you read that? don't interpret things that aren't there to begin with. lol, autism.

Though... on the other hand more extreme fetishes like guro and tentacle seem to be rare and almost nonexistent in scans these days

>i wasn't complaining
99.9% of the post was about things you dislike and that you dislike them. I don't know what else to call it.

>i also didn't say "none of it is my fault". where did you read that? don't interpret things that aren't there to begin with
Let me ask you this; do you think you had any part in things becoming the way they are now? Answer honestly.

>lol, autism.
I know I'm not supposed to say things like this, but I get the impression you're not from around here.

Also, learn to capitalize. Not doing it reflects poorly on you.

>The internet got old enough that it started to become introspective.
that was pretty much always the case, when a new group of people flooded into a community, the people in that community whined about it, from usenet groups to irc to forums and imageboards and whatever else
it sounds like you are using Internet and Web interchangeably, which is misleading

Irony-poisoning and triviality are ubiquitous in conversations. Attention spans are shorter and the ramifications of this being the trend for over a decade is beginning to show.
