Now that Russia is being cut off from foreign businesses, I'm thinking about how this can affect the state of piracy.
As we all know, Russia is a major provider of pirated contents, especially professional software. On one hand, now that they cannot obtain contents legally, more Russians will resort to piracy as an alternative which can boost the piracy community. On the other hand, Russian pirates will have more difficulties in obtaining legal contents for them to crack or to distribute, and maintaining their distribution infrastructure located overseas.

What do you think of how the global piracy status will evolve by this change to a large piracy provider? Will make us pirate easier, or harder?

I've been thinking about this, too, but I think it's going to be us affected more than them. I assume they have connections outside of the country for obtaining the software, and the "underground" won't be affected much. Hmm....
I guess we'll just wait and see.

Personally I'm more worried about all the pirate sites supposedly with servers in Ukraine that are all going to get shelled.

Forgot to mention libgen and sci-hub, for books and papers. They have Russia and Ukraine origin and servers located there.

There is also the issue that Russia could be potentially be disconnected with the global internet entirely because they cannot pay worldwide backbone ISPs for peering fees anymore.
