>imageboards, reddit, discord, twitch... they all are really just
you could easily argue that reddit and discord are social media, full stop, but I get what you mean
The term "social media" is meaningless.
Social media is media that is social, whereas media like books or movies are just media. Whether or not someone chooses to define YouTube as social media is mostly inconsequential since most people are not creating content on "traditional social media" like Facebook or Twitter anyways.
Where do forums, imageboards, chatrooms, and content aggregators stand?
Not quite, the difference is that pebbit or twitch would be corporate datamining me and trying to manipulate me with government approved propaganda and talking points.
With imageboards it's you awesome frens at best, and just some frogspammer telling me I'll never be a woman because I posted one anime image at worst. Not a bad deal really.
there is no loneliness if you have a hoby and something to talk with.
Pure loneliness if you want to talk with someone (irl/online) but you didn't know what you want to talk about.
