No matter how hard I try to think up possible alternative timelines, there's not one in which Bishounen Tanteidan works without the prime SHAFT direction behind it. No other studio could have pulled of this lavish work of style and beauty, it's simply not possible. That said, it's been criminally underrated this season as, for those not interested in pretty boys, it was deemed too boring or gay and ignored during its first few episodes. I find this to be near criminal. Everyone should give it a watch as it beautifully captures the spirit and adventure of youth.

What's it about? I remember seeing someone that looked like Miku singing or something and some frames were definitely pretty, but no idea what the actual story happens to be.
Also, you said shaft hehehe

It's about Doujima Mayumi, a girl who tries to find herself through her school's secret "Pretty Boy Detective Club", and ends up infatuated with the way they live up their youth in comparison to her mundane life. While having a female MC, its focus lies within exploring the unlimited aspirations of young boys with dreams untainted by the adult world.

that's pretty detailed art

Man, it really does look beautiful. It's a serious show then?

no studio could save the show from its source material, every single arc skips straight to the end at the most interesting part, what’s with that?
not to mention the power of friendship end that was just ranting about how great mayumi is even though shes supposed to be scum even though she rarely says anything scummy because her personality keeps shifting to fit the story
I liked shafts visual design and I think by the end it was up to par with their good shows but nisio is such a boring writer, in the 3 episodes about the election they spent all this time building up suspense over this generic guy only to have him decide to just explain everything to the viewer while leaving out what he is and why he was there and then just disappearing after a skip which completely cuts him out of the plot line revolving around him

Was kinda miffed about that too, but it seemed more like they were setting him up as a reoccurring villain rather than just a student to be beaten in an election (remember: he doesn't even attend the school) and
Z free. But the skip wasn't all that bad. After the club president spoke on behalf of Mayumi any plans against her were foiled as it made her look like just another student instead of someone above the rest

The anime does appeal to me and would like to watch it but sadly my backlog is so massive I still have Banana Fish on it back when that was still airing...
I don't know if I would ever get to watching it I also have little time as is in the summer but this thread got me thinking. I could totally still find the time to read the manga instead so starting July I'm sure to do that.
All I've been filling my small amount of free time is rereading Kuroshitsuji anyway.
Has anyone here read Bishounen Tanteidan yet?

Just finished this, it was nice, mainly for the visuals, but I couldn't really bring myself to care about any of the characters.
