Kissu! Kissu! Would you be interested in playing some Minecraft together?

Last time there was a server, people were a bit divided on whether it should be creative or survival, so I set up a basic hub when you first spawn in so you can choose which you'd rather play on. At any time you're free to head back and swap which world you're playing on as you see fit.

The server will be based on 1.16.5, but is mostly client agnostic. You can play on just about any version of Minecraft from the past few years, including Bedrock Edition - which includes phones, and consoles. But, if you decide to play on an older version, things will look a bit different since new blocks and items will be rendered as older blocks and items depending on what version you're on.

There is just one limitation to the server itself, however... Because it's a free server, if no one has been online for about 5 minutes, the server will automatically shutdown beyond my control. I typically have #qa open all day, so if the server goes down, either say something there, or make a post in this thread.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

Minecraft has a recipe book system where as you collect things it will update the recipe book to show what new things you can make. You'll also see a little popup in the top right corner notifying you.

I don't know what you people mean by casual. The pack above has a whole bunch of mods from simple to complicated ones, choose whichever you want to engage with if any.
If it's in terms of monsters the game never seemed that challenging to me, don't know how hard the pack goes on that front but either way there's people who can make you gear if you can't be bothered and would rather just build. From the one time I played a modpack some amount of combat stuff was locked behind dimensions too which you teleport to if you want to, can't confirm if that modpack is like that though.
It's one of the more popular packs too so I assume anyone can play it.

The "All the" packs usually are pretty kitchen sink like and have quite a few mods from a bunch of categories. Usually magic, tech, exploration, some QOL and a couple others. If you want to see the mod list yourself it is available here: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/all-the-mods-8/relations/dependencies

If we ever do run a modpack on a modern version of the game I would recommend one that uses fabric since that seems to boot up faster and runs better generally then packs on forge. Fabric also has the better performance mods

>Fabric also has the better performance mods
But all of my nice texture packs use Optifine and the Fabric equivalents are shiiiiiiit

All of optifine's major features look fine with the alternative I've used

Minetest is cool. You guys should check it out. It's a free voxel engine, it's fast (C++) and you can do anything, you can add your own Lua code in. Someone cloned Minecraft survival into it.

There's a clientside mod for viewing really far distances with a Level-Of-Detail approach called Distant Horizons. It's janky and still in alpha but so cool.

Are there plans for the server to ever go back up?

Uhhh, I wasn't really thinking about it, but I guess if there's a want to play I can probably get around to setting up everything and whatnot. Just tell me what to use and I'll figure something out.

if we are going to run mods, I think this pack looks good since I was looking at what mods it has and what version of MC it is on. (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/all-of-fabric-6) It also has a script for server hosting that seems to set it up for you if you download the server version which seems pretty helpful

Oh ok, I can put it off until May then. Guess I can finish Automata by then too.

 No.106845

I would prefer a curated selection of Kissu-friendly mods rather than a kitchen sink pack but I recognize that people probably don't have the time nor inclination to put together their own modpack and debug all the random incompatibilities and fix up recipes and all that. I'll play on whatever you guys pick

So uh, the kissu PC is being set up right now and I'll be ready to start up a server probably. How's the kissu-friendly mod list coming along?

just use fabric if nobody bothered setting up their own modpack

Is there a reason not to use an off-the-shelf fabric modpack for 1.18 or 1.19?

Hmm, I'm guessing these mod packs don't include the fancy texture stuff, huh? The "MINECRAFT WITH XTREME RAYTRACING 4k WOW" kind of stuff?
I downloaded a bunch of those last time the server was up, but never got around to installing them since I never played the game apart from looking briefly at what people were building.
Hilariously you need to either pay for them or pirate them, so I'll probably get around to uh.. acquiring them soon if they had any major updates. It's kind of funny that there are communities centered around pirating mods

Textrure stuff is usually client-side so I'd assume not.

Those tend to have balance issues from my experience. I play on a singleplayer world with a custom modpack on Fabric 1.19.2, using these mods:
Another Furniture, Architect's Palette, BackSlot, Better Animals Plus, Better Nether, Better End, Biome Makeover, BOMD, Carry On, Decorative Blocks, Drink Beer, Dynamic Villager Trades, Ecologics, Every Compat, Fabric Enchantments, FallingTree, Farmer's Delight, Goblin Traders, The Graveyard (+Biomes), Immersive Paintings, BYG, Oxidized, PlayerEx, Small Ships, Stacker, Supplementaries, Transportables, XP Storage, YUNG's mods, various QOL and performance stuff
I didn't have to configure anything other than Stacker and PlayerEx.

So... uh... is there any difference between "fabric" and "all of fabric"? Trying to start the server but not sure which to use.

 No.108091

File:[SubsPlease] Isekai One Tu….jpg (319.72 KB,1920x1080)

So uhh what server version will it be? I'm looking at possibly pirating some new shader mods and I think they're version dependent

Whichever the latest Fabric... or All of Fabric is. Depends on which I'm going to make a server of.

 No.109224

>>109223
You don't need all those. if its just resource pack stuff just grab the stuff listed under "Resource pack compatibility" Since performance stuff and Shader stuff is already installed into aof. At most its 10 if you grab one from each category.

Looks like I'm fine. Ran their checker script and found nothing. Last time I downloaded mods was about a month or so ago so I shouldn't have been affected
