I wasn't ready.
I thought i was. I thought it would just be a spooky scary bloody gory story... not... that...
It got too painful to watch towards the end and i should've stopped...
Sorry... i know this is all fake and all but my brain just... i really, really hate my brain at times likes this.
Sorry, i just needed to get this out... i'm going to bed.

I hyped up the brutality and violence for the sake of the stream in the OP, but
>Shiki's a vampire story that I feel delves quite well into the moral quandries of empathy/sympathy
Wasn't a lie. I probably should've mentioned that if you're actually one to immerse yourself in the story it's one of the more impactful ones out there. I have it rated a 9/10 due to the way it actually invests you in both camps in the overall tragedy of the village. The ruthless nature of the Shiki that use their own twisted, and sadly sensible, logic to justify their actions. The heartlessness that overcomes some of the villagers in the face of former neighbors, whether as a coping mechanism or an expression of a dark deep-seeded nature.

It'd been a decade since I watched it, but unlike usual where I want to try and multitask I couldn't take myself away from it, just as I hadn't before. It demands your attention, and later thought, towards what it's showing you. I'm sorry that it pained you, but I hope you can appreciate the pain in the future.

feel bad for kaori she's pretty much traumatized and thrown through the ringer the entire anime and most likely will never be able to move past the event no matter how much time goes on

Yeah no, it's fine. I'm not going to get better at handling it if i don't expose myself to it. I was just a little overwhelmed last night after watching it all in one go. I usually watch heavier stuff spread out to not get too much to process at once.
Also my stupid brain had missed the part in the OP that it said go into the "moral quandries of empathy/sympathy". I kind of just saw the "brutal" word and thought i figured where it would go. But it really went way more tragic than i was expecting.
It was a really great watch though! I love these kinds of stories with lots of characters with different personalities and different intersecting paths and stories. And next year i'll be me more ready.

Yeah, there were a lot that probably had a pretty traumatic experience but most others were adults and/or died in the end. She was just a kid, that survived through all that.
The thought of what it'd be like if i ended up in that type of situation truly terrifies me.

I plan on streaming the Bebop movie next year so you probably don't need to steel yourself TOO much.

I think it's wasn't that deep. This doesn't even ends in tragedy.

Uh, the village is gone, most everyone's lost family/friends and there's only like a handful of villagers left. Maybe not everyone is dead, but there's no happy ending here.
