is there anything you like to do or watch before sleeping? do you do nothing in particular?

I usually let a random long YT video play on my phone at low volume so that I "don't have to think on my own" while trying to fall asleep. If I can, I prefer to sleep while the sun is still up because it feels nicer if I know most other people around me are awake / it's less scary because I also sometimes get scared in the dark.
How about you?

Recently I've been watching one episode of Lucky Star before I go to sleep and it helps me nod off very quickly.

personally it doesn't feel right for me to go to sleep until i've had a shower, which is all well and good until i'm too sleepy to shower but too unwashed to sleep. i can also end up procrastinating getting said shower pretty hard.

I can relate, I have the same exact problem with brushing my teeth. It's a lot of work.

I usually just read a book or draw a little bit on my sketchbook.
Which one I do depends on how I'm feeling that day. If I feel too lazy/sleepy to do anything, I go for the book, but if I feel like I want to do something more proactive, I draw one or two things.

I try to read a little in-between final screentime and going to sleep, though I don't keep to this religiously.
The best thing I think I've done for my sleep was to segregate my work, play, and rest areas. For years I would have my desk in my room (not by choice) and spending the day working, the evening playing, and then sleeping at night all in one room is not healthy. Now that I have the luxury of living on my own I can have separate rooms for them and I've found it's helped me a lot.

I started to listen to the old testament audiobook on my phone while going to sleep. Hearing the narrated voice of yahweh while half in a dream can be scary because I just leave it playing all night. It's hard to follow along with so I always lose track of where I was the night before.

I largely listen to edutainment stuff or what is basically a video game 'let's play' of old retro stuff by a guy with a monotonous voice and dry humor.
I've found that most "____ to sleep to" video compilations on youtube is actually awful when it comes to leveling out the volume. Also I need to find a local solution for downloaded things gradually having their volume decrease as the volume turning off suddenly would be just as jarring I think.

Rewatching anime and going through screencaps while lying in bed makes me zzZ.

My mind is too active for me to sleep so the only sure fire way is to take heavy sedatives

It's the poorly named "U Can Beat Video Games" channel. I guess it's not actually a "Let's Play", it's like a strategy guide/walkthrough of NES and occasionally SNES games. The guy is obviously gen X and makes references to stuff from the 80s and 90s. The humor doesn't feature too strongly, but it's enjoyable when it's there.
https://www.youtube.com/@UCanBeatVideoGames/videos
He's currently in the process of doing FF6 and each video is 4 hours long. He should be done in a couple months I assume, depending on how in depth he goes into side content. His FF4 one was like 16 hours long.
I've downloaded every video he's done so it's many, many hours of stuff to sleep to.
Recently, though, I want to branch out to 3D modeling/Game dev videos but I have no idea where to look. Finding tech tutorials that aren't narrated by horrendous ear-grating accents is pretty rare.

Also I want to compliment him on taking games seriously and sincerely. He doesn't do the normal thing where a character dies and cracks a joke like 99.9999% of Western commentators/streamers/whatever. He takes the story seriously.

Thanks! I've seen you post him before actually, but completely forgot about the channel a day later. I'm not a fan of walkthroughs as a genre, but I really like the "amateur" production reminiscent of pre-2010s YT.
>Recently, though, I want to branch out to 3D modeling/Game dev videos but I have no idea where to look
I'm not active in either of those categories and so sadly can't recommend you any channels, but perhaps I can help motivation by confirming the usefulness of the idea. This isn't related to Big Eep anymore, I'm talking in a general sense, but YT Shorts are the single most helpful thing I've come across when it comes to learning software and I only just recently discovered this when I started using them productively instead of to kill time. Basically: Committing to actual videos, even if they aren't long, can be tough as nails, but it's much easier to peek into a short of a few seconds and quickly get hooked on the condensed information. I started getting recommended more editing-focused shorts and videos after I looked up tutorials while doing stuff and subscribed to every single channel that I felt taught in a nice way. Now I get notified about new random shorts from those every day, consume those while procrastinating and sometimes end up being so interested that I go on to their full-length videos and watch those until I get bored, pretty much leading my procrastination into a beneficial activity.
The very best and most useful part of this is that you get to learn about tiny tricks and details that you can't really directly search for (unless perhaps with AI) and usually only encounter during a lengthy video about an entirely different technique. I'm confident you will have the same experience for game dev and modeling.
As for finding people in the first place: If you already have some basics down, do something in either category and look up a tutorial of something you wanna do and assume should be easy, then subscribe if it helped you and wasn't annoying. Obviously you will need an account for this, or you can bookmark those channels if you trust yourself enough to revisit them without the notification brainwash.

i breath in for eight seconds
then i hold it in for eight seconds

I lay down, try to fall asleep, fail, start watching random stuff, try to fall asleep, fail, continue random reading-
But this evening I'm going to try a pro-gamer move by getting my phone outta the bedroom, replacing it with traditional drawing supplies and paper sheets by my bed. Sacrificing getting refs from internet is quite acceptable in this case, compared to just getting the worst sleep possible in the most unfun way possible with nothing being done
