Modpack:
https://mega.nz/folder/zWpHkQLT#5HSNvspwsF2vsCBi0w-ZVQ>>>/amv/9107>>>/amv/9110>>>/amv/8763This may be a bit much to go over in the game thread itself, so maybe just a preliminary Terraria server thread would be good for going over everything out there, general discussion of the game and such. I'll probably post the address and set up for the server itself when I've got everything ready and decided on. Depending on how fast we can get a list of things to add agreed upon, I may even start it up come this weekend.
It's been since the Labor of Love update being added that I last played any vanilla terraria, and then even more time since I played the game modded. So with the game seemingly all finished with its own updates and the mod loader up to date with the current version (and having been so for a good while now it seems), I was wondering what's the current definitive Vanilla+ experience one can make with the current mod selection? I know for sure I want to have these two included:
https://terrariamods.wiki.gg/wiki/Gensokyohttps://terrariamods.wiki.gg/wiki/Touhou_Little_FriendBut aside from that I'm not too familiar with how the rest of the overhaul mods work to say if they'd make the items and such from the Touhou mod completely obsolete. This is coming from the perspective of having played Calamity and that making things just completely absurd post-Moon Lord. Thorium and Redemption (
https://thoriummod.wiki.gg/ and
https://modofredemption.wiki.gg/) from what I've seen seem to be somewhat in line with the base game, but still I'd want to know what people think about them in terms of making other mods obsolete since there's always the potential for an overhaul mod to overhaul the base power of vanilla items to something absurd. Aside from that I was looking into getting the general Terraria Overhaul mod which is:
https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/terraria-overhaul-gameplay-enhancements-and-much-more.60369/And like many of the others, I haven't tried it out myself but read many praises of it from searching through discussion and such. I know for a fact that there's also a bunch of small miscellaneous mods that I'm missing from this list too that I'd add to an inevitable server so if people want to then you can go crazy.

>>159713I counted 21 at once during one point in the server. It kept around 10+ for most of its lifetime. Even during the least populated it was yesterday post moon lord and such it was still a good 10 or so people. Though at night it was around 3-4 of us.

>>159719Yeah, I should probably make the plans for the server far in advance next time. Also the next time I need to figure out what was causing all the lag for people and then find a fix so the experience is more smooth all-around. Not really sure how to fix that however, aside from just renting out a server that'll have better ping all around than my house to others. Though if the issue's linked to individual PC performance then there's probably nothing I can do aside from hope Re-Logic rewrites the game engine to not tie so much to FPS. But I think right now people may be a little fatigued because even if it was 4 weeks it was still 12 hours or more a day for 3 days straight for everyone. Which is a bit over a full week's worth of playtime in total.
Was talking with some others about what I'll do for the next host, and despite some earlier reservations in the thread I think that I'd be down for playing Calamity with our other mods. Having looked more into it, it really does seem like a straight upgrade over normal Terraria in terms of progression reworks and some neat little skips you can do. Though the skips would probably be a bit more difficult to pull off in MP with scaling difficulty and also people not wanting to blaze through content and experience the game in its intended progression to some extent. Not myself though, I love stuff like original pick power Reaver Shark and dungeon guardian spawn prevention methods to allow for getting a bunch of OP for your point armor and weapons early. Then with some recent videos I thought that killing Lunatic Cultist as the first boss through some skips on Calamity Infernum looked awesome and I'm sure people would absolutely hate doing that. I look for the same types of sequence breaks in all games I play because it's neat to play the non-intended way for me but I know that others don't necessarily appreciate that so I digress. Everything else around it like the updated mechanics for boss fights and total revamp of various systems to make the game as a whole more enjoyable seem like big plusses to me.
Aside from that, I'm looking forwards to Kyora when it releases too. Server's up and has been up, I'll be on in a bit because I need to do some necessary stuff, don't forget that we'll be taking the final pictures if you want to come around 17:00 EST so in ~5 hoursish!

>>159723that's some crazy survivability... how does the terrarian's last knife differ from the zenith that made you prefer using it instead?
No.159727
>>159725Looking forward to the pics!
>>159726I used the knife specifically for The Primordials because they have 33% damage resistance to Zenith, and their final form has even more (50% resistance). Zenith is definitely a better weapon. The knife can't even beat Zenith in single target DPS (assuming you're pointing your cursor exactly at your character's sprite while using it).

Good to see people designing and building things!
>>159719What are you envisioning exactly? I thought it would be cool to have a 'builder' server that hangs around for a couple months, but I'm not sure how that would work. Do people reserve a plot of land or something?
No.159748
>>159747It was just an offhanded comment about time flying, didn't mean anything by it.
I know there are server settings in minecraft where you can reserve plots of land and such, so there are probably similar things for terraria too. Collaborative stuff is fun though so I'm not so sure about individual plots...

No.159760
>>159756Yeah sure, I'll not include that in the future since it seems like in terms of other mods people haven't had any issues when testing on their own.

Power went out while I was in the middle of building... it must be fate™ I guess.
Thanks for all these fun weekends!
No.159770
>>159767You're welcome.
Also, I was convinced in the server to just leave it up for the foreseeable future while I'm away for builders to build their hearts out and I don't mind the idea at all, especially given the Hakurei Shrine that was built over the course of this night.
So for while I'm out in Japan the server will stay on, which could be upwards of 11 days! The one caveat is that if anything happens to the server I can't turn it back on, so enjoy it with the idea that any second could be its last.

>>159756The overhaul mod has some nice features, but it also has a lot of offputting effects who's settings are tucked in its own special snowflake mod menu that people need to tell you about to turn things off.
Music filtering when low health or dead, bloodstains, camera motions, and the god awful screenshake. Significantly more enjoyable when I got those disabled.

No.160387
>>160386So there's a weapon in the game called the Sand gun which is actually a pretty good weapon when you get it, the issue with it is that it uses sand as ammo so you need to mine a lot of desert to use it and every shot you miss with the sand gun creates a sand block where it lands, this is really annoying during boss fights as we bump into it/ it blocks our projectiles
So the sand fiend both deleted the entire desert and made the bosses harder for everyone else

I arrived back around yesterday and slept like crazy which gave people some more time, but this morning I did end up back on the PC and closed the server for good until next time. Next time in which I may go against the wishes of some to play some Calamity with kissu.
Here's the world file for the server if anyone wants to play it again in the future.
