Alright, the basic guide is as follows:
1. Get a copy of Morrowind. If you don't have a copy you can get it here:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/l59dualtgvh1tae/Morrowind.zip/file -If you download it here, extract the archive wherever.
2. Download and install the mod:
https://files.catbox.moe/4wz5bp.7z -You may want to back up your files, as the mod replaces some soundfiles. Extract the archive to morrowind's "Data Files" folder.
3. Download and set up TES3mp:
https://github.com/TES3MP/TES3MP/releases/tag/tes3mp-0.8.1 -Run opemmw-wizard.exe and follow the setup.
4. Run openmw-launcher.exe; go to "Data Files" and make sure Tribunal.esm, Bloodmoon.esm, and retardTohoPack.ESP are checked.
5. Click play to open the server browser. The host name will be "/jp/wind". Password: "Meido"
6. On joining the server, you will be prompted to put in a name and password. This will be tied to your character. DO NOT use an actual password for your character.
The set up should basically be the same for linux, but I can't really speak on that. I do not know if there are any dependencies. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up.

Making clothes isn't too difficult but it depends on the touhou, some times it's effectively just a texture swap but if they have special features (nue's tentacles, okuu's wings, patchouli's hat) then it requires frankensteining existing morrowind models to create it (as is the case with nue) stealing stuff from existing mods (as is the case of okuu) or this anon

Foreword
Thanks for having interest in contributing. This guide may seem intimidating at first, but it's mostly just tedious. It's also primarily focused on making the parts for player models, though the process should be more or less the same for any other model you might want to import. Just keep in mind that you don't have to do it all in one go. Even with a fairly organized work flow, this takes me a few hours per character.
Your model doesn't have to be perfect. This is just a silly little community project after all. If you have any issues, make a post in the thread, and I'll try to help you out when I see it.
(P.S.: Apologies if the formatting is bad. Didn't write it as an imageboard post.)
Preparations:
1. Blender, most modern versions should work. (
https://www.blender.org/download/)
2. Blender Morrowind .nif plugin (
https://blender-morrowind.readthedocs.io/en/latest/getting-started/downloading.html)
3. Additional plugins for whichever filetype you may need. As I'm using models from Sven Coop, I'll be using Source IO. (
https://github.com/REDxEYE/SourceIO)
4. A model to convert. If you want to use a sven coop model, grab one from here:
https://wootguy.github.io/pmodels/sc/index.html -I usually try to stick with fairly simple models, but I really don't know how well morrowind would handle fancy models. It also takes a lot more work.
5. If you are making a new race, you'll want this template head regardless of if you want to use it or not. (
https://files.catbox.moe/qm92mh.zip)
Starting Off
Once you have blender installed, you will need to install the plugins.
-In the top left, click edit>preferences.
-Go to addons and click the arrow in the top right and install from disk.
(
https://files.catbox.moe/tulhho.jpg)
-Navigate to the plugin archives you downloaded, select them, and then click install from disk.
-Check the boxes in the addons menu.
Once you've done that, you should be able to import your model.
(
https://files.catbox.moe/qws0f1.jpg)
-File>Import>(fi
letype of your choice)
-navigate to the model you're converting and select it.
Now I'll give you some very basic instruction to actually using blender. I'll provide more later, as we go along.
(
https://files.catbox.moe/0qwfxa.jpg)
1. These are the different modes that let you work on specific parts of the model. We only really need "Modeling" and sometimes "UV Editing"
2. Once you click on an object, this will let you choose different modes. In our case, we will only use edit mode. Do note, you can't import or export outside of object mode.
3. This menu lets you change how things look. I recommend selecting "Texture" under color.
4. To control the camera you can: click the scroll wheel to rotate the camera, scroll to zoom in and out, and click the hand to move the camera. You can change things around in preferences if you so choose.
To start, we want to remove everything we aren't using. In the case of converting a head for a new character, we'll want to remove everything that isn't the head, hair, or related accessories.
-On the right side of the screen, you will hopefully have a list with multiple objects. In object mode, right click through them and delete the parts you don't need.
-After this, you may still be left with more parts than you need. You will have to manually delete the rest. Go into modeling and then into edit mode with what you have left. You should have something that looks like this:
(
https://files.catbox.moe/46ut28.jpg)
-Marked in the image are selection settings. You will select verticies by default, which will make this take way longer than it needs to. Click the one on the right to select faces.
-From here you can drag to use box selection on the faces, or just click to select singular faces. Shift click to add or subtract to the selection. Right click and delete.
-There are more tools under the select menu. Feel free to experiment with those to maybe make things faster and smoother.
Once you're done cleaning things up, you should be left with something like this:

Conversion
For the purposes of creating a charater, Morrowind has the head, hair and hat as seperate things, and the hat will replace the hair. As such we must create:
1. Head (This guide will use the template head to keep things simple.)
2. Hair (If you're doing one of the rare characters without a hat, you only need to worry about this.)
3. Hat w/ Hair (I recommend starting with this.)
4. Hat (This one isn't SUPER important, but should be used for the item model, in case it gets dropped on the floor.)
Mesh
The first thing we have to do is seperate these parts in blender. I'm only going to demonstrate seperating the "Hat w/ Hair" portion, as it's all the same process.)
-I strongly recommend saving here. It'll create a .blend file so you can come back to this point quickly.
-Delete the part of the model you AREN'T working on. In my case, I will delete the head, leaving the Hat w/ Hair
(
https://files.catbox.moe/qiy7fy.jpg)
Once you have the seperated part, you will need them to fit Morrowind characters. This is where the template head comes in.
-Extract and import the templatehead.nif. (Remeber, you have to be in object mode to import and export. You can stay in object mode for this part.)
-You may or may not need to set the texture for the head. It'll help you line things up right. Read the asterisked line below for instructions, use the .bmp file that came with the .nif.
-Click, then right click the part you are converting, then "Set Origin>Origin to Center of Mass". This moves the transformation controls to the object itself.
-On the left side of the screen, you can find the transformation controls. Use them to move and scale the "Hair w/ Hat" to the template head.
(
https://files.catbox.moe/ofoxvs.jpg)
-Now both the hat and hair are properly scaled. Go ahead and delete the template head.
-If you want to use your own head mesh, use the hair to scale it properly.
Texture
So we're done now, right? Right!? WRONG! We need to set the texture for Morrowind. Morrowind Requires textures to be .bmp files with power of 2 dimensions (128x128, 256x256, 512x512, etc).
-First you'll PROBABLY need to mess with the texture a bit, so you'll need to copy or save the existing textures. Go into UV Mapping mode.
(
https://files.catbox.moe/uc59jg.jpeg)
1. Select the texture(s) here.
2. Copy or save texture here.
-Open the texture in whichever image editing software you desire. I use GIMP.
-If everything is already one texture, resize the image to an acceptable size and save as a .bmp. Hopefully it'll be close enough
-If the model has multiple textures for the parts you are converting, you have 2 options. Both require messing with UV Mapping.
-(Easy modo) Make one huge image (with acceptable dimesnions) and paste all the textures into it. This isn't ideal, but works.
* -Import the texture to Blender. Select the object in the list, click the checkerboard circle, click morrowind, click base texture, then click open and select the new texture.
(
https://files.catbox.moe/003bxd.jpg)
-To fix the UV Map, go into edit mode in UV mapping, then right click>select all on the model to edit the UV maps.

-The circled boxes are the selection modes. The one on the far right allow you to select all connected faces. It works much the same as selecting on the model. You can move them into place.
-If you need to scale it, I recommend using "UV>Transform>Re
size" as it keeps the same aspect ratio.
-(Hard modo) Cut up and reassemble the texture. You'll probably need to rotate and maybe scale some parts of the image. This will result in a smaller texture and thus a smaller filesize.
-The process is much the same as the easy method, but you'll probably need to rotate things as well.
-It doesn't have to be particularly clean or perfect. You won't notice the finer details in game.
If you want to use the template head, it is already UV mapped to the bundled texture. You can edit the face portion of the texture as needed. I recommend using hue-chroma in GIMP if you just want to change eye color.
-If that won't work for you, you'll probably have to redo the UV maps.

Exporting
FINALLY! You've put together the mesh and texture and made sure they fit. Now all you have to do is export as .nif.
-File>Export>Mor
rowind (.nif)
Morrowind mods have a certain file structure to them, which you should use to make actually adding the models to the game easier. Consult The following image.
(
https://files.catbox.moe/27q7qd.jpg)
Make sure your file names are identifiable. It would be a pain to sort things out after the fact.
If you want to test your models, you open it using nifskope. I use this particular build:
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/54127 -I don't use it much now, but if you aren't sure you did it right and don't want to put together a mod with a bad model, you can quickly test it here.
Now, if you started with the head w/ hair model, you can easily get the seperate hat and hair.
-Take your hat w/ hair model and delete the hat. Now you have the hair, all ready for exporting. Delete everything once you've done so.
-import the hat w/ hair model, and delete the hair. Then you have the hat.
Wrapping Up
With the model, you can try your hand at making a race in the construction set. That isn't in the scope of this guide, so there won't be anything on that here.
Alternatively, you could just put it into a .zip, upload it into catbox, and post it in the thread (preferably with some details).
Not much else to be said here. Thanks for taking interest and if you manage to get get through it and make something: Good Job! I'm sure there are better ways to do just about everything here, but this is how I've been doing it.

Apologizes for the random autistic blog post
Following this thread >>100067 I decided to look through really old /jp/ threads. I randomly found one about a guy asking about Oblivion mods (2008 was a different time) and after some discussion of touhou mods for Oblivion, one anon linked this:
https://oblivion.z49.org/ which is a Japanese blog post for Elder scrolls resources in the form of 2ch thread logs. I had a lot of fun just gawking at 2006 era Morrowind discussion in Japanese and how much of a problem it was actually playing the game, there was no official translation of the game to Japanese so not only were they using machine translation they had to use a different font that allowed for Japanese characters. Also funny seeing them explain Morrowind slurs like N'wah and S'wit, and they were seemingly calling the Japanese Morrowind community "outlanders" which is really cute in context.
No.159785
>>159784I also found a link to a Japanese made mod maker's blog that's both still alive with working links, but also has English support which is quite surprising. http://len.s71.xrea.com/morrowind/index.html One of the mods adds a new landmass and another adds cherry blossom trees (which crashes my game because they make the trees via copy pasting 30 thousand Comberries). I Spent an hour exploring the island of Ljos...
Probably won't be playing this multiplayer as the mods are designed for a different master version of Morrowind (either an older retail copy or a Japanese patched copy I'm not sure) so it's somewhat unstable, as such me posting this isn't a spoiler or anything

If you haven't played tes3mp before, you will need:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/l59dualtgvh1tae/Morrowind.zip/filehttps://github.com/TES3MP/TES3MP/releases/tag/tes3mp-0.8.1First one contains Morrowind itself, the second one is TES3MP. This should be simple enough to set up.
Here's everything you will need for tomorrow night:
https://i.desu.si/ymLnQJEP.ziphttps://i.desu.si/oAcWqiJw.zipThe first .zip contains the mods we will be using. You can dump this into your game's data directory.
The second .zip contains a modified version of the tes3mp.exe, replace the old one. It
contains a bitcoin miner prevents crashing in interiors with too many players. It was uploaded to the tes3mp discord server, and is otherwise unavailable. We used this during the previous test session, so if you got it then, don't worry about it now.
Now you will need to make some configuration changes. Start openmw-launcher.exe and click on Data Files and make sure your modlist looks like pic related. Drag them to adjust the load order as needed. If you don't do this, you won't be able to join.
Next, go to the Advanced tab and set background physics threads to 2. This is said to improve stability.
Lastly, if you want to get around the server browser, go into tes3mp-client-default.
cfg. Put "107.205.243.34" as the destination address, "25565" as the port, and "Meido" for the password. After you do this, you can start the game with tes3mp.exe and it will join the server directly. It makes it much less annoying if you do still crash.
If you run into any issues, say something and I'll try and help you if I'm awake.
