Does /qa/ eat out ever? I like to occasionally to places I’m comfortable with and know well, but when it comes to finding really good well hidden places I’m always stumped. Food apps don’t really help too much because any decent place has a high rating, is it just a game of throwing darts until you stumble upon something good? Also what places do you normally like to go to if you do go out? I have a few steakhouses and ramen places I frequent

Aside from hitting fast food on the road there's any place I hear of through word of mouth. Like there's a hole in the wall sushi place two towns away that is to die for and I wouldn't have found out about it had a friend not tell me about it.

Due to circumstances I have been away from home in a different state for over a month so I have been having to eat out for over a month.

I think most of it's fine but none of it's great.
I haven't had much Japanese food though. None on this journey and only some in the past. I have to try more of it but there aren't that many such places in this country.

Also it seems to be quite rare for people to eat alone. As I said, I have been eating out for over a month and it's very rare to find anybody else by themselves. I probably look weird.

I eat out in the course of the day job---co-workers go to lunch or there's a Christmas dinner or I travel for work and have expensed meals. But I never go outside to eat or drink in my normal day to day life, instead cook it myself.

I used to frequent an Indian restaurant that had some of the best food I've ever eaten but they closed down a couple of years ago. There was a really good Chinese restaurant too but they closed down as well. Now I mostly order restaurant food through a delivery service and only ever eat out if I am in town for other errands.

I get takeout pretty often. I live in a neighborhood with several pretty good options in walking distance so I generally stick with a rotation of those and don't venture out to check new places much.

Rarely. It's expensive, but most of all I'm surrounded by other people so it makes me nervous. I only do it with family once or twice a year when they visit. My food tastes are pretty simple so I can't really appreciate fancy stuff.

How is Indian food? I'm the person that has been eating out for over a month so I am rather sick of it but I haven't tried Indian. Is it just curry or what kind of food is it? My concern would be that it's too spicy and that it doesn't have much meat options given that they don't eat cow. I'm an obligate carnivore and so I'll dei if I don't eat meat.

Indian food consists mostly of grilled lamb or chicken in different types of sauces and served with basmati rice and naan. They never made the food spicy unless I specifically asked for it, but that might be different if you're in an area where people are used to eating spicy stuff.

Hmmm. I may as well try it.

The Indian food in my area has the mild option with so little spice, it's nearly too little. So I always get medium from them.

Go out to a local eatery for dinner as "cheat meal" every week after 7 days of starving myself for 18 hours. Don't really know any good hidden gems though. I don't even think I'd know a good place even if I went to one, not much of a food critique; if it's edible and doesn't taste like shit I enjoy it like it's the best thing in the world.

Did someone say sag appeal?

There's a middle eastern place I sometimes pass by where I like to get Persian rice and dolmades and it's really fucking good. Rice and raisins are such a great combination I've started using it on my own, though without spermim. Also used to buy bigass VLTRA sandwiches (it really was called that) which came with TWO milanesas and egg and stuff and for surprisingly cheap, but it's even cheaper to buy from the butcher directly so I stopped.
What I really need to find is a Peruvian place with chicha morada... it's such a sublime drink. I love any beverage with that kind of thickness.

There's a surprising amount of stuff you can find in Google maps, particularly if you're looking at serial reviewers' history. Inversely, there was nearby a 1.5 stars pizzeria and just from seeing how awful its reviews were I decided to leave a troll review comparing it to pic and favelas, still managed to be one of the kindest comments there.

Thought you said spermin', what's spermim?
>Rice and rasins
You should try "dry fruit Pulao", it's indian food, tastes great, not much hard to make at home either. Normal pulao, which is just veggies and (basmati) rice prepared in a certain way, is also great.

The funny yellow thingy generally referred to as cumin. M is a typo on my part, actually.

Hmmm, I'll look into it, thanks.

I enjoy visiting 茶餐廳 or tea resturants in English. Although there are a couple where I live, they originate in Hong Kong and offer a variety of unique fusion-type foods that you don't really find anywhere else. My preferred order is always hot milk tea and french toast. Kopitiams in South East Asia offer a similar experience with a staple breakfast being half boiled eggs with kaya toast - a type of jam made from pandan and coconut milk - and teh tarik.

I know a few family friends who have never eaten ethnic food before, or have tried it and disliked it, saying they prefer to stick with meat and potatoes type dishes. I'm fortunate to have grown up exposed to many different cultures, but I really can't fathom listing steak or whatever as a favourite.

People eating out in pairs or groups are paying more attention to each other or their phones than to other patrons, no need to worry.

I tried Indian. I don't remember the names of what I had though. It was fine I guess but not great and overall even a bit disappointing.

As an entree I had some kind of fried cheese thing with dip. It was okay.

Then I had curry with naan bread. The curry taste similar and my own curry is better(though it's probably not really a curry).
The naan bread was folded over cheese. It was like you would expect. It's fine but it's just bread with cheese.

Then I had Indian ice cream which I guess is some kind of coconut based thing. It's okay but the texture was a bit rough and I think regular ice cream is better.

I also has a tea drink which is like a chai latte but less milky. It was okay maybe better than chai latte as the milk was not so frothy.

I might try Indian again. As I said, it was fine. There might be better things there so it would be worth checking.

I ordered whit tea from a Chinese restaurant and got a hot milk tea beverage instead. I wanted it again but didn't know what it's called. Is it just called hot milk tea? Can you get that from normal Baristers?

I've never had steak from a restaurant. Steak at home is boring. Maybe I should try it from a restaurant though. Maybe mum just can't cook stake.
But yeah, a lot of people are like that but isn't it mainly older people? Like my dad won't even eat Italian food.

They usually do pay more attention to themselves that's true. People do shoot glances at me though and I was being stared at by a 12ish year old girl tonight. Though she was probably just bored waiting for her order and so looking around.
The staff of restraunts get annoying though. They recognise you and get overly social.
If you were in an area that you actually lived it would get more annoying. Not just from the staff but other customers too as many would be locals from where you live.
But overall it doesn't matter I guess.
