This is a thread for discussing and planning streams that people can host using kissu's own anonymity-supporting cytube fork at https://theatre.kissu.moe/! People can and should make threads for the big day so they can post images and stuff and be more in control, but a thread to talk about stuff was suggested and I think it's a good idea.
I think I'll edit this OP to coincide with planned streams as well.

File:ba0b177343e6738ae67072c593….jpg (67.92 KB,639x479)

Was thinking about streaming Gunbuster sometime.

File:Mind-Game3.jpg (32.03 KB,640x272)

If no one streams anything Friday, and I'm back to sleeping on a useful schedule, I'll stream an arthouse >>>/jp/74615 that didn't flop.

some people liked tomodachi game
maybe one of them can stream that

File:[MoyaiSubs] Mewkledreamy M….jpg (427.44 KB,1920x1080)

Sounds good!

I don't think I'd like it, but others will!

Did we? I remember some "so bad it's good" potential maybe.

Personally, I've been thinking of how to stream the rest of Mewkledreamy Mix. It rather unceremoniously got some subs uploaded on twitter by a teenager girl with only a couple episodes on nyaa due to nyaa's refusal to allow new accounts for the past decade.
Probably won't be up to the quality of MoyaiSubs which had a whole team of adults, but it's better than nothing. We have 32 episodes to watch from where we left off. I was planning on waiting for a slow/bad seasonal stream to add it to the end each week, but it's not something to rely on. I was thinking of something like six episodes per day once a week.
Well, first I should see if the subs finished. Now which nitter instance works...

>It rather unceremoniously got some subs uploaded on twitter by a teenager girl
a kissu user started subbing mewkledreamy?

File:[MoyaiSubs] Mewkledreamy M….jpg (366.35 KB,1920x1080)

ARGH you quoted a brain misfire of mine. But yes, some random person decided to just marathon through Mewkledreamy Mix subs a few months ago and the world only learned of it because someone else noticed and uploaded a few edited/cleaned up versions to nyaa before seemingly abandoning it. The last nyaa one is 23: https://nyaa.si/view/1752794
I wonder how much stuff the world is missing out on because of nyaa being closed for so long. What exactly is its problem? Well, I guess if I want to rant about it again I'll do it in the private tracker thread.

>Now which nitter instance works...
also the whole thing, all the remaining mewkledreamy mix episodes? damn

File:86645410_p0.png (10.26 MB,3158x5324)

I'll do one better than just watching the new monogatari for myself, I'll make sure I take all of /qa/ with me! Going in Nisio order I'll be streaming all of the Monogatari series starting next Friday, and continuing every Friday and maybe occasional Sundays up until we're finished going in arcs. First two streams will probably be the longest and be all of Bakemonogatari on Friday 5/10 @ 6:00PM EST, followed by all of Kizu the next Friday 5/17 @ 6:00PM EST. The others I'll do based on what feels right.

File:Mission - Yozakura Family ….jpg (317.66 KB,1920x1080)

So uhh... are you going to do this today then?

Nice intestines.

Yes. It's time for me to download

How nice, it got a BD release a year after I watched it

im gonna try the mkv to webm thing

Hm, why webm over mp4?

WebMD is web mkv

As a fallback I'll start on an MP4 but WebMD will be fine

Funny phone typo...

File:[MoyaiSubs] Mewkledreamy M….jpg (430.92 KB,1920x1080)

What's your opinion of this thing? Not sure if it saves time or whatever, but seems interesting: https://nyaa.si/view/1778850

Yeah, actually that's pretty cool. Only issue I can see with it though would be that I'd need to moderate the filesize so that we don't run into network error issues and maybe split them into parts.

File:Get in, we're streaming.jpg (88.82 KB,1280x720)

Reminder that I'll be starting the streams tomorrow @ 18:00 EST!

Aka today

And on Sunday?

I'll do Sunday after we finish Bake and Kizu, so next Sunday.

File:[aRMX] Maoujou de Oyasumi ….jpg (310.57 KB,1920x1080)

Yep, this is exactly how I remember the parts of it I did try once upon a time. A Japanese Seinfeld of nothing happening

Streaming Jin-Roh if you want to watch something to fill time

File:[Piyoko] Himitsu no AiPri ….jpg (150.74 KB,1920x1080)

How many people showed up? I was playing a game so I completely missed it. Last second streams seem kind of strange, but it could work maybe...

I bite this and chew on this

File:[Erai-raws] Youkoso Jitsur….jpg (131.5 KB,1920x1080)

Just me.........

Can't believe it you can't even get people to show up to an unplanned stream in the dead of night these days......

File:8164d29adb99edf38b3ff4777c….jpg (328.97 KB,1456x2048)

But in terms of actual streams, I'll be hosting Kizumonogatari tonight at 7:00PM EST.

A few hours later and I might have joined you over breakfast.

Was busy arguing about CS topics

File:360426.jpg (735.06 KB,1720x2372)

This is meant to be a stream planning/announcement thread so I'm going to move a bunch of posts specifically about Monogatari to a new thread on /jp/

>I wonder how much stuff the world is missing out on because of nyaa being closed for so long. What exactly is its problem?

I'm personally sitting on about 10 shows about half of which aren't available on any public source because I can't upload them to places like nyaa no more. I have a long list of things I would have already done if people weren't hoarding things behind private trackers (need those BDMVs and rare DVD rips).

I'm trying to solve this problem but there is only so much time in my day. We're considering buying an entire BD set right now because some guy threatened to stop sharing BDMVs with U2 because someone uploaded the vol1 to nyaa.

I'm working on a restricted container format for anime based on mkv that will solve the streaming/device compatibility issue. I'm calling it the Otaku Multimedia Format for now. Gonna have a special format just for manga (so it can be interactive).

On-topic: I would be willing to stream some stuff sometime if given access. I'm sitting on a large collection of stuff now.

File:[Serenae] Wonderful Precur….jpg (140.28 KB,1920x1080)

>if given access
It's a cytube clone thing. There shouldn't be any issue in creating your own account and channel: https://theatre.kissu.moe/

Oh wait I forgot you guys convert+upload. I ran a cytube channel a couple of years ago and we had an actual streaming server we piped through to cytube users live.

Well, a guy here was just using twitch to do it, but yeah. Streaming could be cool, but it's not something I want to bother learning.

If I can remember what we were using I'll come back and link it. It isn't that hard. We rented a cheap VPS and installed some software we got from github on it. Then all you had to do was connect to the server like you would with twitch/youtube or any other major streaming service. I typically used OBS but I piped ffmpeg directly a few times.

Anyway, you'd stream the video to the VPS then it would distro it to your users. We had about 30 regulars and one time about 200 people connected during a big event. We never had an issue with bandwidth since we had unlimited plan and the VPS could handle several hundred users.

The best part was if I streamed in 1080p the users could toggle quality in the player it embedded. So they could pull down 360p and 720p transcodes if they were on slow connections. VPS never had an issue with transcoding in real-time.

Everyone that streamed on it had a different style. What I did was plan a block of content similar to how Toonami and Adult Swim were run back in the day. Then I'd stream 4-6 shows for those few hours with breaks and bumpers in between. Sometimes I'd switch over to someone else's live stream and restream it if people in chat requested. It was really fun.

I don't join the streams here often. I think I watched Ergo Proxy a few months ago with you guys and a couple of movies in the past. I'm not really into streaming much and I don't use sites like Twitch. I did enjoy producing content for the one I ran for a little bit though so perhaps I should make an effort to give it another try. I did enjoy things like Saltybet back in the day.

I've tried to look into how to do this and upload a stream as a file to the cytube player, but I don't think it's possible.

In the least I haven't put in the time to research multimedia streaming. Best I know is http/tls sockets

Its possible. If the guy that set it up for us is still around I'll ask him about it next time I see him. I helped maintain it when he wasn't around but I'm having a hard time remembering the name of the script now.

What it basically did was embed a player from our VPS server in the cytube page. It by-passed the default cytube player if I'm recalling things correctly. It worked really well even on old smart phones. It could even auto-adjust quality for the user if they started dropping packets or their bandwidth got wonky.

You can't do it directly through cytube as far as I know. You have to set-up your own VPS like this and embed the third-party player.

The upside to doing it this way is no more conversion+upload. Instead you set-up OBS (or ffmpeg) to transcode the video in real-time like a normal streaming set-up for twitch/youtube. You don't need a recent CPU to do it either. I was doing it on a 15 year old CPU just fine. Since I was VJing the stream for those hours it wasn't like I had anything else hogging resources going on. You don't have to plan things in advance anymore. If chat doesn't like what's being played you can just load up a different video locally and switch to that.

What I did was dedicate a monitor to the stream. Anything I played on the monitor got sent out. But I had some keyboard shortcuts for OBS that allowed me to switch to a title card stream if I wanted to hide the screen for any reason. What I did was set-up a playlist of content locally and run it through mpv. Then I'd set that to play through while participating in chat on another monitor. If people needed pee breaks I could pause mpv and switch to a title card or something else I'd prepared in OBS while everyone waited. Usually I'd play music or something.

File:[SubsPlease] Higurashi no ….jpg (146.2 KB,1280x720)

We streamed the original Higurashi stuff last year, but I wonder if we should do something this year. We could do the original OR maybe Gousotsu even if the latter is, uh, controversial.
Hmm.... Maybe with so much Monogatari streaming lately everything will blur together.

File:R-1717220143600.png (2.13 MB,1920x1080)

I wanted to do DameDame Umineko but couldn't, I think that'd be a decent choice. Fair bit shorter too.

Yeah that'd probably be a good idea, and Higurashi Outbreak might work too.

Hmm, yeah, I think someone (you?) was thinking of doing that last year but had trouble finding it?

File:[Coalgirls]_Umineko_no_Nak….png (1.91 MB,1920x1080)

Yeah, hadn't realized he didn't do the whole thing. But I just went ahead and downloaded them, except for ep 7 which may or may not have any seeds... I'll see how that goes.

I probably have ep7, downloaded them all a while back so I should still have them somewhere.....

Well, it's not on AB. Someone could check uhh... man I completely forgot the name of that other place that used to be public but then went private like 5 years ago.

File:c5e29a1d91b8f7dedd0955ac1f….jpg (101.36 KB,1166x1302)

Decided that before and after every one of my streams I'm going to put an episode of Mazinger on so that I can more easily get myself through all of it without forgetting about it and it going into an eternal "On-hold". It's more like a SATAM cartoon than some anime with a complex overarching story so people can hop in and watch if they want, you probably won't get lost. On episode 4 right now too so still far more to go.

The basic setup for the story is Kouji's grandfather, Dr. Kabuto, discovered the strongest alloy on earth, Japanium, and made a robot, the Mazinger Z, out of it to battle the villains, Dr. Hell and Baron Ashura, who intend to take over the world with their robot army. Dr. Hell is able to kill Kabuto but not before he passes down the Mazinger to Kouji, who uses it to destroy the first big three robots sent by Dr. Hell and foil his plans for world domination. Now, hungry for revenge and Japanium, Dr. Hell continually is trying to destroy/capture the Mazinger from Kouji so he can be free to take over the world.

File:[DameDame!] Umineko no nak….jpg (42.52 KB,768x256)

Oh, I ended up getting it, someone popped up and seeded it thankfully.
(One of the really great things about this is that many lines seem like the worst translation imaginable but go even further by being completely made up. A simulacrum of a bad translation, amazing.)

File:[MoyaiSubs] Mewkledreamy M….jpg (314.2 KB,1920x1080)

That Code Geass thing is finally happening next season. I thought it was still a ways away. Umm... do we consider it common enough knowledge to add to seasonal stream as-is or should we marathon it sometime soon?
It has been almost 20 years (ouch) so they're probably doing a story refresher thing? Or maybe they're already streaming the old show on Japanese TV or something?

Yes, but also yes. They did compilation movies for the runup to the new movie just a few years ago. They were all shit and technically an alternate universe, but it does count as a refresher.

File:[MoyaiSubs] Mewkledreamy M….png (3.22 MB,1920x1080)

Yes in that you think we should stream it?

Any interest in some Psycho Pass or Tatami Galaxy(or related)

File:[Reaktor] The Tatami Galax….jpg (127.5 KB,1920x1080)

Personally, I'm not interested in longer streams right now. Monogatari was way too much. Tatami, sure, I'd like to hear what others have to say about it.

File:Mizuho_sip.jpg (115.67 KB,1280x720)

Tatami isn't a very stream-friendly show in my opinion. Everyone is going to leave the stream with their heads being a jumbled mess full of words and unable to process everything they've watched. Not to mention you need to pause to read the subs sometimes too.

Psycho-Pass would be cool to rewatch if it's just the first one.

File:[Reaktor] The Tatami Galax….jpg (237.1 KB,1920x1080)

Tatami's pace means it has way more shit going than a ton of other series, there's an endless amount of stuff for people to comment on. At the same time, its difficulty is overstated since it only really applies to Watashi's narration and at varying speeds, while the story's essential concepts are consistently repeated and conveyed implicitly and explicitly. It's not something you can miss. It's definitely possible to form an opinion on it without needing to rewatch it, and if there are things people want to bring up afterwards because they didn't understand them then that'll be all the better.

well it seems like 2 people like tatami. I was hoping for some replies before 5est so maybe Sunday?

I'd like Psycho-Pass

Yes, just so long as it's the full series and not the kuso movies.

PP would also be fun to rewatch.

i guess it's a bit mixed, but there's interest. I'll think about what to download at 4EST

i thought the movie was alright fun

I feel like Tatami would be like Bake in terms of stream activity if you're considering something like that.

i would stream it to flex on the monogatari pervs with true art. But that's probably about it

I'm not sure we watched the same show.

File:[MTBB] Zoku Owarimonogatar….jpg (240.61 KB,1920x1080)

You're being true to the stereotype of Tatami fans being pretentious hipsters right now.

You shouldn't treat him as being representative of anyone.....

File:Go! Go! Loser Ranger! - S0….jpg (205.74 KB,1920x1080)

I don't know when season 2 of the Sentai Ranger show is coming out, but in the weeks before it does I'm definitely streaming S1 so S2 can be added to stream. People made a mistake in voting it out of the seasonal stream and that shall be rectified for season 2!

File:Top o Nerae! Gunbuster - 0….jpg (238.61 KB,1432x1080)

I'm going to stream Gunbuster next Sunday on: https://theatre.kissu.moe/kiss/gunbuster then. Don't miss it!
