Also if you're going to download to try it (which you should) apparently there's some problem with how it was done and mtbb has an upload available on nyaa:
Crunchyroll’s video (and the video of other foreign distributors, like Baha) is missing a field. That means that the image is basically 1920x540. This encode doesn’t restore the missing information, but it at least fixes the aliasing caused by the missing field. Thank you to zewia for identifying the problem. - Chloe is replaced by a guy called "Yarei" in order to fulfill her role of pretending to be Holo in the festival (it's like that in the LN/manga too)
- The vegetation is more lush, green and vivid (this seems to be due to the original apparently taking place in Autumn. Not sure which season it is in the reboot)
- The couple at the beginning of ep 2 is younger
- Holo doesn't shake her tail to dry herself (a real shame, I loved that scene)
- There isn't a rainbow over the church

Anonymous posted about manwha it in the blog thread and I'll move a step up from that by moving to here. They were quoting this article:
https://screenrant.com/solo-leveling-documentary-manhwa-overtake-manga/The pro-manwha argument boils down to this: manwha is better suited to phones, phones are everywhere, therefore it's easier for growth to be had.
The problems that come with it the writer admits in their second paragraph:
>Some of the best aspects of manga like double-page spreads, and unique paneling do not always translate well to a vertical scroll format like that of manhwa. Then immediately contradicts it in the next part:
>That said, manhwa's vertical scrolling style does not sacrifice any of the advantages offered by manga's unique paneling. Similar to manga, vertical scrolling can also control the pacing, tension, time, and flow of the story being told. This isn't true, he's obviously bullshitting. Especially because of this other idea quoting from a head honcho:
>The very act of scrolling to read gives it a kind of feeling of movement, such as the movement of a gave or flow of time.If you don't like them you'll say it's dumb from the get-go but even if you're a supporter I'm certain it's more of a novelty than anything. Good manga convey this flow through their paneling, that's basic stuff, Mr. Bum Gang is essentially celebrating the fact that webtoons have pidgeonholed themselves into a single panel structure. Solo Leveling manages to have wide shots of battlefields by tilting its panels in a way that is honestly rather interesting (pictured: chapters 165 and 135 respectively), but these are things that would be typically be achieved via a spread which is infinitely more workable and readable not only as a book but with a tablet or PC. Even on mobile the way it asks you to tilt your head is wonky. And if a manhwa wants to, for example, show a group of people in any setting like a room, it often has to cut what would otherwise be a single image in half then put the two disconnected panels one below the other and this does happen very many times. The amount of versatility it loses is greater that it seems at first.
But the real kicker is that if you look at the paperback here, you'll see it's essentially an adaptation:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/983740354/solo-leveling-i-alone-level-up-full-setWhy? Because suddenly you have to refactor this single loooong strip into a book and that requires rearranging its panels into the traditional configuration since that's the way that makes sense for anything that isn't a phone. And paperbacks are how you make money, not webtoons, so you're banking on people purchasing an inferior product as your method of income unless you're planning out both formats in tandem and then that demands extra work from everyone involved when at first I'm not sure there's even a guarantee it'll sell whereas a manga comes bundled in magazines getting at least somewhat of a headstart from that. These divergences are non-trivial in both the short and long term, putting aside that Korea doesn't have anywhere the level of refinement Japan's culture industry has evidenced by the fact its animation is Japanese-made.
Finally, I'd disagree with
>>123094 because the article states these chapters are pre-made as a whole and then distributed in batches, circumventing the usual problem of burning out from a constant schedule. The one truly interesting comment from the article is that apparently they're including sound effects and animation too, which makes me think they're gonna be going down the Homestuck route funnily enough. Evolutionary convergence and alla dat jazz, though again gimped.

Evolutionary convergence and alla dat jazz, though again gimped. There's a saying in software engineering
> Fail fast fail oftenThe more rough and rapid pace of manga means that ideas can get cancelled much easier and there's a greater emphasis on presenting things as interestingly as possible on as little a budget.
The inherent problem with the coloring approach where they write up the entire story then release it weak by week, is they have to do market analysis ahead of time to determin what is good or ornot. This encourages only the safe decisions to be made while shonen jump can take more risks and cut an author if he isn't up to par with what people are feeling right now
No.123123
>>123119Well, in SL's case the source is a web novel and the story is already written so that's not a problem. That's also true for others I've seen recommended like The Greatest Estate Developer, Return of the Mount Hua Sect, or Omniscient Reader. On top of that, I doubt most manga are actually that reactive when they don't have the obligation to keep going as it happens with the giants, though it's not something I can say I've looked into.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakuman and a large part of it is that there's a lot of reactivity and that people can settle into established tropes, but it can be soul crushing if they don't enjoy it.
> WN vs mangaI'm not sure how different that is from manga as well, but for people who try to get spots in serializations I believe it's a matter of submitting one shots to industry's and building an internal reputation as a reliable author

It would be easy to create a book that's 10cm on the x axis and 30cm on the y axis, and has its back at the top.
It would not be easy to store this book alongside traditional books, but if you're a manhwa fan and buy lots of them, that's not an issue.
Once the artist knows to split panels aftre every x pixels to account for pages, you can have your cake and eat it too.

If it is CG then non-toei/orange studios are really making strides into perfecting the mixing of the two. At first I was mostly just passively interested thinking it to he a work anime but the hook at the end has me interested in seeing more as maybe this could be a cooler version of
