Hey
Kissu Kissu! Would you like to play Sonic Karts sometime? I have created an addon pack with some fun stuff included! If someone else is willing to host it, that would be cool, but if not, I can always do it myself.
The download includes everything needed to host and play the game, plus a custom client created by 4/vm/ that adds new features to the game.

https://files.catbox.moe/ona7hq.zip4/vm/ client source code:
https://gitlab.com/c3851/srb-2-k-cepStuff added via addons:
- Custom characters! https://files.catbox.moe/v72z70.webm If you have characters you want, feel free to suggest more!
- Wide variety of tracks. About 42 map packs worth of maps!
- A Kissu theme pack with custom music and graphics on the voting screen.
- The in-game HUD is colorized to your chosen color, including the new speedometer and drift gauge.
- A hitfeed that shows when people hit each other or fall off the map.
- Timers on the bottom of the screen that shows how long your sneakers, your mini-turbos, or you being spun-out lasts
- A simple trick system. Tap brake after a jump to get a small speed boost when landing. It is on a cool down timer after you do it.
- Air-braking like CTR. By holding brake in the air, you can make yourself fall faster, which is useful for landing faster after big jumps!
- Gold, silver and bronze signposts for the first 3 people to finish a race
- Voteable alternative gametypes like Combi Ring, HPMOD, War and WeatherMod. Type vote in the console to see more things that you can vote for!
- Various balance changes which can be shown by pressing Tab.
Alternative votable gametypes explanation:
Combi Ring:
You and another person are linked together and must work together to complete a race. Things your partner does affect you, so be careful of friendly fire. Press Custom 1 or Custom 2 to tell your partner to turn a direction.
HPMOD:
As you race, you will have a HP bar that will decrease as you get hit or fall off the track.
War:
Collect items, hit people and complete laps to add time to your timer, last one standing wins.
WeatherMod:
Similar to the weather system in Touhou 10.5 and 12.3. As the race goes on, random effects will occur that can change how the game works, play around them to win.
Info for hosts:
The port you need to have fowarded is 5029.
The startserver-* script is needed to load all addons in this pack so be sure to use it. 127 posts and 28 image replies omitted. Click reply to view. No.124395

Oh dang I forgot about this. We need to start playing again.
>>124395I think I remember him mentioning a board on 4chan as a source of information. /vm/ or something? The multiplayer gaming board.

This game looks fun. I want to play next time. I'll even use the crappy controller reserved for little brothers.

Can't get it to run ...

Sucks to be me I guess. Is there a flatpak or appimage somewhere?

that makes me sigh too its depressingly common for people to distribute artifacts built on new machines/OSes
you will have to compile it from source yourself...

Probably didn't help I was hosting this on my kuso internet back then. Having it on a server this time or letting someone else host would probably be best.

A massive update for the current pack. New client, tons more maps, multiple themes, new gameplay mods and some new characters. The entire structure of the game setup has also been redone as well, its much more organized.
The game has also been switched to my SRB2Kart client fork called srb2kart-neptune. It adds tons of customization along with all the features of Saturn, feel free to checkout the options!
Compile and setup instructions have been included in the archive as well.
Updated download:
https://mega.nz/file/fcpXDbAA#sw00eBPjfpap64xunc4qZ-MIZMiJ8n8uVqepmyHMoxMThemes
Multiple vote themes will now cycle during each vote screen. These also change some music cues. These themes have been grabbed from many sources.
- The existing Kissu theme from the last pack. (Neko)
- Sonic CD theme (SonicCDJP)
- Starfox 64 theme (STFX)
- Suguri theme (Suguri)
- Street Fighter 3 theme (ThirdStrike)
- Grisaia theme (GRIS)
If you want to force a specific theme you can do votetheme_prefer and its internal name.
For example:
votetheme_prefer "Neko"
You can do this in the console by pressing tilde (~)
Gameplay Updates
BoostStacking:
BoostStacking has been turned on by default This makes it so all your boosts can combine and become stronger. This also lets Shoes and Rocket Shoes stack onto themselves 3 times for fast speed!
Teching:
Teching has been introduced. If you press the acceleration button after getting hit and time it correctly with the visual you can make the spinout end earlier and give yourself a little recovery boost!
Voting:
The way voting works has been changed up. You now do setmod and setgametype to set mods and gametypes. If the vote passes they will be turned on!
You can do this in the console by pressing tilde (~)
For example:
vote setmod "juicebox"
vote setgametype "weather"
To see what options are available to vote for, you can type setmod/setgametype in the console by itself. To go back to the default mod vote for "tech".
There are also some votables separate from mods/gametypes. To see what those are type vote by itself in the console.
Heres a few explained:
- acrobasicon/acrobasicoff: This is a toggle that turns on a tricking system you can do off jumps. The more you combo it, the faster you go.
- rebasicson/rebasicsoff: Similar to acrobasics but the way the boost works is different. Combo-ing tricks give fills your trick boost meter and the more you have the faster you go.
= nepspinon/nepspinoff: This mod lets you spin into people by pressing the item button with no items, kind of like F-Zero. This also has a small window that lets you prevent getting hit.
- spbatkon/spbatkoff: By yourself and want something to do other then set records? Voting this on will make the SPB chase you when there is only one person in the lobby. The objective is to outrun it and finish the race.
- growoffroadon/growoffroadoff: This lets the Grow item mow offroad like Invincibility does.
Records
There is now stuff to do even if there is no one else playing.
When by yourself, the game will go into Time Attack mode and allows to set map records. SPBAttack also works with this mode.
Handy Commands:
levelselect: Typing this into console will let you choose a map directly without having to vote for it.
retry: This lets you retry your current record attempt.
You can do these in the console by pressing tilde (~)

>>144509Downloading! I think I have this launch this thing through Steam because I have a Switch Pro controller which I didn't know at the time Windows does not innately recognize.
We should be able to get it on kissu's game server thing sometime soon, although I'm not responsible for any of that stuff.
When we do Grisaia I call Sachi.

Client Changelog if you care
- Lua support for HUD patch rotation and a minimap spinout toggle in the sprite distortion menu
- Lua wallbonk hook should no longer drop drifts if used to bypass wallbonks
- Fixed the A_Lua action dropping garbage onto the Lua stack
That reminds me when should we play next?

Heres some tips for newer players:
- Drift earlier then you would in a Mario Kart game. The way the drifts in this game work makes better to drift earlier.
- You can tap brake while drifing to make drifts more sharp
- Holding accelerate right as the the countdown turns into one gives you a startboost
Hope you have fun!
