Hey Kissu Kissu! Would you like to play Sonic Karts sometime? I have created an addon pack with some fun stuff included! If someone else is willing to host it, that would be cool, but if not, I can always do it myself.

The download includes everything needed to host and play the game, plus a custom client created by 4/vm/ that adds new features to the game.

Game plus addons download: https://mega.nz/file/mJYUhJBR#UmY_51jm0gQkjk3uZa512Z09T75V8GujKVscg7clX0s

4/vm/ client source code: https://gitlab.com/c3851/srb-2-k-cep

Stuff added via addons:- Custom characters! https://files.catbox.moe/v72z70.webm If you have characters you want, feel free to suggest more!
- Wide variety of tracks. About 42 map packs worth of maps!
- A Kissu theme pack with custom music and graphics on the voting screen.
- The in-game HUD is colorized to your chosen color, including the new speedometer and drift gauge.
- A hitfeed that shows when people hit each other or fall off the map.
- Timers on the bottom of the screen that shows how long your sneakers, your mini-turbos, or you being spun-out lasts
- A simple trick system. Tap brake after a jump to get a small speed boost when landing. It is on a cool down timer after you do it.
- Air-braking like CTR. By holding brake in the air, you can make yourself fall faster, which is useful for landing faster after big jumps!
- Gold, silver and bronze signposts for the first 3 people to finish a race
- Voteable alternative gametypes like Combi Ring, HPMOD, War and WeatherMod. Type vote in the console to see more things that you can vote for!
- Various balance changes which can be shown by pressing Tab.

Alternative votable gametypes explanation:Combi Ring:
You and another person are linked together and must work together to complete a race. Things your partner does affect you, so be careful of friendly fire. Press Custom 1 or Custom 2 to tell your partner to turn a direction.

HPMOD:
As you race, you will have a HP bar that will decrease as you get hit or fall off the track.

War:
Collect items, hit people and complete laps to add time to your timer, last one standing wins.

WeatherMod:
Similar to the weather system in Touhou 10.5 and 12.3. As the race goes on, random effects will occur that can change how the game works, play around them to win.

Info for hosts:The port you need to have fowarded is 5029.
The startserver-* script is needed to load all addons in this pack so be sure to use it.

Absolutely. I asked about this, uhh.. not sure if it was this year or last, but we started collecting a mod pack or something but we never got around to playing it.
I think we need to get people to sign up here to show interest, maybe, and then set a time.

I certainly am interested in playing. How many other people can we get?

What distro do you use? If updating your system packages doesn't fix it you could try compiling it.
Compile instructions
install these packages or their equivalents if your distro isn't debian/ubuntu based

build-essential libpng-dev zlib1g-dev libsdl2-dev libsdl2-mixer-dev libgme-dev libopenmpt-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev

grab the source code cd into that folder cd into src type

make -j8

once its done grab the executable and replace the one inside the .srb2kart folder and rerun the script and it should work

Linux Mint Debian Edition 4. Which has been out of support for a year or so. I've been meaning to go to LMDE5 but when I tried it, it told me I needed to roll back my nvidia driver, I did so and rebooted before continuing the upgrade, but I booted into a nongraphical environment. So I thought I'd leave it until I could spare a whole weekend for it.

The weekend is probably best for these kinds of things, yeah. My sleeping schedule varies so I could probably alter it to play so I won't bother giving an exact time.
Looking at the game modes, I think any of them other than Combi Ring sounds good. I think that one sounds a bit too demanding to start with.

AH, the WIN64 .bat file doens't seem to work. I think it's supposed to have /cd in it or something to change into the directory and then run the file? I just went into the folder and launched the .exe manually. Is the -opengl argument that important?
I have to launch games through Steam because I use a Switch controller (windows has no native support), but I don't think it will cause any issues.

Also, uhh, I'm not sure if I'll be playing this weekend. I cut my left palm and it interferes with how I can hold a controller. If there's an observer mode maybe I'll do that...

 No.112746

>>112735
The batch script isn't important for Windows. I only included it because there is a Linux one that is actually needed. The -opengl argument isn't needed since it's already on, but it's good to include it anyway. Also yes, there is a spectator mode and you can press f12 during a race to switch the perspective between the active players.

Good games, it was pretty fun playing with all of you! Here are some tips for the next time we play that should help!
General game stuff- Pressing F1 in game will show you a manual telling you what every button is, what items do and some common tips.
- You can hold brake while drifting to make your turns sharper
- To get the start boost hold drive as soon as 1 appears to get a speed boost and if you time it really well you can get an even stronger start boost
- If you are being chased by a shark try to get it to crash into a wall so it doesn't hit you. This works because its turning speed isn't very fast causing it to often hit other things if you drift right
Character controlDepending on the weight of your character, drifting will be easier or harder. Heavier characters are harder to control, but get miniturbos faster, while lighter characters are easier to control, but get miniturbos at a normal rate. If you have a character that you like but don't like its stats, you can type restat in the console with two numbers, one for speed and one for weight to change your current stats, both of which max out at 9, for example "restat 5 5" which are good balanced beginner stats that would be the same as playing Knuckles but without having to play him!

Hmm, is this something that could theoretically be set up to be "always on" on a kissu server by any chance? I remember that there was a guy that could start votes to change modes and stuff, but if they're not around then maybe it can just sit in racing mode 24/7?
Also does anyone want to try adding more stuff to this? I'm curious of what kind of stuff you can mod in

 No.113479

>>113474
Yeah, I even included a script that runs the game as a dedicated server so it would work. Also anyone can vote for stuff using the in-game console by using the vote command. As for more stuff that could be added there is a ton, more game types, more characters, tons of custom tracks and much more. If you want I can add more stuff to the current pack, suggest me stuff from the SRB2MB (https://mb.srb2.org/forums/kart-releases-addons-more-discussion.15/) and I'll see what I can do. I'll also throw some stuff in as well from other places

A big update for the current pack. A ton more maps, some more gametypes, Hats and a new client with new features! If one of the kissu server people could host this so its always up would be cool but if not its all good I can still host!

New Client plus addons download:https://mega.nz/file/yZhQGY6B#im7EPWHEo_3QKgGSCSdGlFu0Fgh_uJ_B55nTYjy6V4A

Overhauled votingThere are now voting aliases to easily turn gametypes on and off, for example to vote for WeatherMod you would type vote weatheron and weatheroff in the console. Press ` and type vote to see what is available to vote for.

New gametypesRings:
As you collect items, you will also pick up rings. Hold item with no items to use your collected rings for a quick speed boost, which can be useful for taking shortcuts when you have enough!

Elimination:
There are infinite laps, but a countdown timer runs, whoever is last when the timer ends dies, the last person standing is the winner.

BoostStack:
All boosts will now combine with this active! This allows you to stack sneakers, drift boosts, and other types of boosts for fast play. Releasing a red or rainbow drift just before your sneaker runs out will extend it in this mode..

DriftNitro:
There are no items, but as you drift a meter fills up, giving you nitro boosts that act like sneakers. This mode is for high speed, high skill races where you don't want the RNG to affect the outcome. The rules of BoostStacks apply here as well.

HatsYou can type hatlist in the console to see the currently available hats, set them with hat <number>, change their color with hatcolor, and save your choices with savecosmetics.

New clientA new Kart client came out recently called Saturn and it has very cool features and generally seems to run better. It has a lot of customization options, check out the settings if you are curious!

The map 'Angel Arrow Zone' (in KR_AngelicHype_v1.1_v2.1.pk3) still leads to the 'Too many flats in level' error, crashing the game. While it was quite funny when it happened the first time ( >>113125 ) it might be better to remove it from the map pool so a random selection doesn't crash the session.

Where did you find all the stuff you put inside this pack? Is there any kind of resources to mod the game?

Can't get it to run ...

./srb2kart-saturn: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.38' not found (required by ./srb2kart-saturn)

Sucks to be me I guess. Is there a flatpak or appimage somewhere?
