I have a Windows 10 minipc for VNs I can't get to run properly in a VM or Wine.
- My Applications are in 3 different languages. Not just the names and icons (but they absolutely are too, the menu is a mess), but when I open them the display language will be 3 different languages. Some of the applications even show as Japanese in the taskbar settings, but English or another language when I open them. I only have 2 languages set on this computer neither of which are English.
- I had 4 keyboard settings for switching between languages. Two of them were the same language (English UK and US) and neither of them were set as my display or keyboard languages. The only way to fix this according to all the comments were to mess with regedit. Even Linux is less tedious than this.
- The Japanese IME constantly defaults to romaji. This cannot be fixed and everyone suggests setting up an extra hotkey to switch manually. This is utterly retarded, it's specifically for inputting other keys.
- The Japanese IME can not be set up with any other language than Japanese + English US. I have to make sure it stays in hiragana when I switch to my language, but it will randomly default back to English US while in the Japanese IME.
- The English US and UK keyboard (it was UK a while ago, but its English Notenglish now?) settings keep reappearing randomly every other reboot or mid use despite removing them from all the various registries and rebooting the computer. This means I have 3 English keyboard layouts, that's one more than the two I actually want to use neither of which are English.

I have never used a more spaghetti OS than Windows and just typing this on the spaghetti VN machine is pissing me off. I am glad I have a MacOS Laptop (all of this works flawlessly there too by the way) and a Linux desktop. Anything is better than this operating system.

Forgot to mention, but unlike Linux and MacOS there isn't one button to Switch back and forth between the last two input languages so I have to scroll through all four every time I want to change language. The other option is setting up two new hotkeys to switch directly back and forth, but that means using more hotkeys and not using the same one over and over.

I think they just stopped caring after windows 8 flopped (it was more polished and stable than either win 10 or win 11 in my opinion). Pic related. I install xp inside a virtual machine and it got the clock right immediately after install and can connect to the internet just fine (just http websites though) unlike openbsd 7.8 (released 20 years later) which couldn't update, couldn't connect to anything and only gave me vague tls errors until I guessed it's because of a misconfigured ntp daemon and manually set the system clock. Windows was genuinely the best operating system until 2015 and we are still expecting it to be when it's not the main revenue driver for microsoft anymore (afaik, office programs and azure web services bring in more revenue than windows license sales).

I made a mistake and wrote Windows 10 in the post because I basically don't use Windows for a very long time and forgot which version we are on. Just to be clear it is Windows 11.

The keyboard of my PC is not english, but I use english, my language and japanese. but windows 10 randomly duplicates new keyboards and add languages without my keyboard type, so even if i am using a different keyboard, windows forces the english keyboard and I have like 5 or 6 keyboards, so I have to restart the device to fix it. How the keyboards works in windows is truly terrible. In linux, is hard to install the japanese IME, but once you do it, is so simple and your keyboard configurations never breaks.

I'm in the W10 IoT club, so I'm covered for now. Also, a ton of VM machines for W9X and XP.

The day support ends (or I upgrade to hardware without W10 drivers) will be sad. I like Linux, but it's going to feel like the pulling the plug on a friend that's on life support. I went from enjoying 7 to barely tolerating 10, but 11 is the point where I won't put up with the bullshit anymore.
