I think it's time I invest in a UPS. I lost power this morning and my uptime got reset on 3/4 machines. Does /maho/ have any recommendations?

Can't say I do, but I'd like to get one sometime soon as well. There's basic stuff that would last computers a few minutes to an hour, and then there's the massive ones built for natural disasters that are basically giant batteries that sit outside like an air conditioner. Those cost quite a lot more naturally. You can get stuff like solar panels attached to all of this stuff, too.
I think most people just want the basic thing that affords you time to save things and shut down the computer manually, so I don't know what you'd need to sustain it.

A basic, domestic one costing maybe 300 dollars would fit your purposes.
Check your computer's power supply and your monitors' power draw to make sure the UPS you buy can meet it all. Since this is for four computers, maybe get 2 UPSs, but you of course know your power usage patterns better than I do. Also one thing about UPSs is that people say you have to change out the battery every couple of years because it loses a good deal of capacity. I haven't had mine long enough for that to be a concern yet.

For my purposes I got the first thing that popped up when I searched for a UPS, a CyberPower BRICs thing. Probably an Australian brand. Testing a fake blackout by switching off at the wall demonstrated that it did the job, but with a desk lamp plugged into it the lamp light was a little fluctuating and unsteady during the test. It beeps loudly when the power goes out so if there's an extended blackout maybe it'll wake you up and you can shut down your stuff. It's been serving me well enough and has even saved my computer's ass in a real overnight blackout.

Not OP, but how long are those things supposed to last? The thing I'd want is just going to support one computer for like 5 minutes so I can turn it off without damaging it or avoid it turning off during a power flash, which I tend to get about 10 times a year.

an off the shelf one will be fine, these things will generally say X mins at full load on the packaging and you're probably not gonna run it at full load

Off the shelf? What do you mean?

sigh cute helpless NEET...
i mean just go to like officeworks or some electronics/computer store or some bullshit and whatever brand of UPS they have you can just get it and it'll suit your needs
you dont have specialized needs
you're not a big corpo's tech guy supporting an entire server rack that needs 99.999% uptime even in hurricane season

Ohh. I thought that's what you mean, but wasn't sure. Nice, yeah, that's good to hear.

It's easiest to find used apc second hand locally and then get chink repalcement batteries.
