I guess it's good that someone creative can make money from it now, but this kind of sucks since the Sonic stuff was so dumb and retarded and fun. I've linked it a few times here over the years, and it's just the right kind of old youtube juvenile humor that makes me laugh. I don't think anyone else here really liked it, though.
I didn't think this was still a marketable demographic, but going from 3k views on average to six digits is a pretty big leap in ad revenue. Bronies being a subset of furries means they're probably going to pay money directly to him too for more content. Good for him, but I'm going to miss watching it.
Such is life. The allure of furry money is too much for mortals to handle.

I take offense to this. Only the anthro shit is furry and that's far less common than either the whorse stuff or the humanized stuff. Sonic has way, way more overlap with the furries than MLP does.

I am kind of surprised that ponies are still attracting creators given that the fad ended a decade ago and the one generation with good content is completely over, but I guess the people who are still stuck to it are the kind of autists who will never move on so that's probably conducive to building little Discord communities that will support you as you try to drag the fandom out for as long as possible.

I lump bronies in with furries for a simple reason: they have the passion and disposable income that is a hallmark of that community. The Sonic people have the dedication (maybe even more on average), but they lack the money. If your group of 2D animal/anthro appreciators doesn't have an abnormally high percentage of engineers or nuclear technicians or others in top positions then it doesn't count as furry. I don't make the rules.

There was obviously plenty of overlap, but the two are very different phenomena. Bronies are a pretty standard media fandom, which centred around a particular tv show and whose activities involved the usual stuff like fanfiction/video edits/etc., while furries stand out for being a 'fandom' which, even if they may interact with various media properties, exist as a community largely independent of any such things, and whose most distinctive characteristics like fursonas and fursuits are largely foreign to the brony fandom. A reasonable comparison to bronies might be the Pokemon fandom, which likewise has a lot of overlap with furries, especially on the porn side, but which is clearly not simply a subset of them, with many Pokemon fans are drawn in from other angles and never having any real interaction with orthodox furries as such.
