>>3152I've had this handheld for about a week. I really love the form factor, but I can't help but feel like it really deserved a better processor. Unfortunately, Mediatek Mali GPUs just have nowhere near the level of Android driver support that Snapdragon Adreno GPUs have. I got it after comparing synthetic GPU benchmarks and seeing it should have been
much more powerful than my phone's Adreno GPU. I was really hoping to be able to do Switch emulation. My phone can manage like 20 FPS in BoTW, and seeing the GPU of this handheld be like ~30% faster I was really hoping that with the right combination of settings I would be able to see playable speeds. But, nope. The drivers just aren't there. I was really, really hoping and imagining I'd see like 30FPS. Instead... I get like... 8 FPS.
Likewise, like with this. On Winulator, I actually can manage to load Fallout as you can see, but there's terrible artifacts and I had to find the particular settings that would even allow it to run in the first place. Beyond the weird texture geometry glitches, the text is also just missing in menus and dialogue! But on my less powerful phone, because it actually has proper driver support... It runs fine! It's kind of infuriating that this a thing. I never would have imagined that Android actually has issues with GPU driver support until now.
On the bright side... Most things are supported just fine because Android mostly seems to use Vulkan for universal graphics compatibility, but man... the things that just don't work are so disappointing.
