I saw an owl last night
it appeared directly overhead of me like something out of a scene from a movie, so perfectly cut, high perched above and the alleyway to either side focused my vision on it.

This is why I want to move to the ruralish outskirts of the city I live in

 No.2324

It is pretty nice, but it's also less convenient. I guess it depends on the density of the city and what you're used to, though. A place with lots of trees and nature and would also allow you to get what you need within walking or bicycle distance would be ideal. Many cities expand outward, though, or people just move to different areas and it doesn't last...
My house used to have a farm near it with horses and goats, but it turned into a neighborhood. There was also a pond nearby where my brother would fish, but it's now a pharmacy. I guess you'd need to find an area with some sort of zoning thing where you can be sure that it won't be bulldozed down and turned into something economical.

Are they? At least it's a cool and interesting holiday with all the costumes and stuff. It influences a lot of nice artists and in online games there's usually cool events for it.
Halloween decorations and candy has been sold here starting October 1st for as long as I can remember, so it's nothing new there

 No.2276

>>2272
Halloween is the best holiday, so naturally it deserves a month. Still, I disagree. It's not celebrated for a month. Maybe at big box stores it is, going based on what sort of merchandise they have on show, but certainly not by regular people. In my experience, people generally set up Halloween decorations at their home maybe a week before Halloween which I think is pretty reasonable.

Just recently by pure accident I found out that it's possible to see the shadow of the veins on your retina.

If you want to try this yourself you can follow the instructions here:
https://www.aao.org/museum-education-healthy-vision/experiment-see-blood-vessels-in-your-eye

Alternatively, you can try the same way I did it:
Stare at your blank TV
With your arm fully extended, move your arm about a foot from center and hold a light source (I used my phone) and point it in the same direction as your eye is looking (towards your eye)
You can move your arm around in a circular fashion to see different regions within your eye

As mentioned in the article above, you can even use this method to identify blind spots such as the optic disk which is where the veins come into the eye from. I suppose if you have any retinal degeneration you could also identify that.

 No.1481

Ah, yeah, I had a science teacher in school that did this and it was really cool. You ever see those squiggly lines that appear when you clench your eyes tight? When I'm bored sitting somewhere outside and I need to pass the time I try to find those repeatedly.
Life is pretty exciting

 No.2278

knew a dude who was terrified because he figured out how to see floaters

 No.2279

>>2278
I hate floaters. A couple years ago I developed them spontaneously and it freaked me out into thinking my vision would suddenly start degenerating. I would see them really frequently too, especially when outdoors or in brightly lit environments. Nowadays they don't don't bother me as much and I pay almost no attention to them, but I would prefer not having them...

>optic disk which is where the veins
It's actually the optical nerve..

I adhere to the policy of self-determination. Nullify the current borders, promise not to interfere in whatever process they come up with for deciding borders, then let them go nuts. That should fix the border problem and the overpopulation problem in one fell swoop.

How? Easy, alien space bats created time vacuums/time portals and took the civilizations from their home dimension and they settled where they arrived at, keeping the names of their former cultures.
Or I just put them their because I liked the color from this fuck huge map color code key that I use because I don't want to roll 3d256 everytime I want to pick a random small province.
Oh and pretty goddamn high.
Apparently I cannot post the color scheme on kissu (shame)

Maybe have it be like in the 200 BC era? Don't really know.

Watched "Blow Out" (1981). Quite a great thriller centered about an accident that slowly unravels into a conspiracy. Kept an intimidating presence throughout, and I enjoyed the protagonist's character arc.

Especially the final scene, where the events of the film have led to Jack becoming a broken husk of his former self. His reignited yearning for justice is quashed by the same tragedy which took him out to begin with occurring to someone he grew close to.

I've never seen traditional japanese opera, but both Koreans and Chinese tend to categorize caterwauling as "folksy" or "traditional" and its odd.
Im sure they see Middle English and Early Modern English in a poor light as well

I think it's a pick and chose thing. All art has to be approved either way

 No.1816

>>1814
It could be that you have to be able to understand Chinese to get it, it might be that the way the language sounds 'caterwauling' makes it easier to understand or something like that.
