Kissu's Palworld server is OFFLINE!

The new patch added Terraria collab stuff, fishing, 5 more levels (with tech associated with I assume) "bonding" to increase stats of low rank Pals you use a lot, and 3 new islands! More stuff too, but I can't remember.

We last played in January and there's been some big patches since then. For those who don't know, it's a third person building/Pokemon capturing game. I think the term is "open world crafting survival" or something, but it's Japanese so it's cute and quirky. People called it "Pokemon with guns", which is kind of true for the atmosphere but it's more than that.

Actually, I want to play really soon. I'm messing with the world settings and I kind of had to play the game (albeit at extremely low level) to do it and I'm reminded of how fun this is.
I'd like to increase the difficulty a bit and slow down how fast XP rolls in.
You can adjust a lot of stuff, but unfortunately not equipment durability. Stuff in this game has barely any durability until late game.
The "Pal Appearance" rate thing is fun, if you set it to 2 then every time a Pal would spawn, it will spawn 2. Great on regular enemies to make it more difficult, but it also applies to bosses. Maybe I should get opinions on how hardcore people want things to be, as the fighting really isn't difficult in the action game sense, but capturing bosses when 2 of them spawn may be too annoying.

I would just leave everything at normal settings but maybe make XP go very slightly faster if anything since I remember it being slow as molasses in the endgame and increase the material gathering rate since multiplayer causes shortages for mining locations. I don't really see the need to make more pals spawn especially if it is going to cause duplicate bosses, but if it's possible to reduce their respawn timers that would be helpful

More XP? I don't think higher level stuff will be any issue any more with with the addition of more islands stuff since we last played. I don't remember what the max level used to be, but they increased it.

The issue is that at low and mid level you fly through levels and don't have a chance to try everything. We can just keep it at the default, I guess. I'm someone that likes taking his time in games, though, and I know that differs from most of kissu judging by various MP stuff we've done. There's so many low level pals but you outlevel them before you even see half of them.

While it will be multiplayer, the reality is that you spend the vast majority of your time alone and only see other players now and then (although chat is there). Its gameplay just doesn't encourage people to play together. Only one person can catch a Pal or grab resources and there's a simple 'quest' system to upgrade your base and skills that serves as an extended tutorial.
Unlike Terraria the world doesn't change at all as other people progress, so people can play at their own pace.

So the Palworld devs were forced to remove the ball-throwing mechanic because of Nintendo being assholes. There's this mod to bring back the aiming, but the animation won't play because the modder is afraid of Nintendo.

I don't think it's random, no. It's possible that they've changed some spawn locations through some of the patches. The patch notes say that they've added an ore version of the in-base harvesting node thing, which is dumb if you ask me.

Yeah, I agree with that. The setting is the time for 'massive eggs', which is the rarer variety that's supposed to take a while. 20 minutes seems fine for that since it's supposed to be something that's inconvenient so you don't just spawn them in right away. The default is like 20 hours, meant for people that play a little bit every day instead of us.

Pal Capture Rate: 1.2. Just to reduce frustration and grinding a little bit. Think of catching legendary Pokemon with non-master balls.
Stamina Reduction Rate: 0.8. Stamina is used for a lot of things, but it's largely a convenience meter used for modes of travel. Minor change to keep stat/equipment upgrades worthwhile.
Structure Deterioration Rate:: 0! Huge change. This means stuff built outside of bases never decays. More room to mess around.
Gatherable Objects Respawn Interval: 0.4. Resource nodes respawn over twice as fast. >>8774
Time to incubate Massive Egg: 1. The default shows 72.00000, which I assume is 72 hours. You can do things in your base to speed up hatching, like sources of heat.

No item loss on death. The internet and EA games are not perfect.

Tips:

-Don't build a Palbox on top of a crafted platform. If something destroys the platform your base goes with it.
- Duck while running to slide, which is really good at picking up speed on slopes. Combine it with gliding to go far.
- You'll unlock a second and third base slot as you upgrade your base, so don't worry too much about the perfect spot
- You can quick travel between bases, so it's a little wasteful to put a base near an existing teleporter
-A good base spot has lots of flat land and shiny ore deposits by it

Well, the player limit is 32 by default so it's made to hold that many people, and each person can have 3 bases. This means the world is very big. Generally bases are most commonly around the middle of the map, often near teleporters. Look for flat areas.
I'll take some screenshots of my base locations after I'm the game again. They're quite remote, though. I finally placed a base I'm going to decorate after having an awkward utilitarian one.

Yeah, as someone already said the orange box in the top right of the screen does a good job of directing you. It directs you to checking the Guide that is for some reason in the Settings tab.
Look for a nice flat area of land that's near some shiny rocks and put down a Palbox. The Palbox marks sets the surrounding area as your base. Bases have their own level (shared) and you raise it by meeting conditions. It teaches you about the game at the same time. Stuff like "Build a workbench" goes along with the orange box's tutorial to make items.

Increased the maximum pals in a base to 30 and maximum number of bases per person/guild to either 7 or 8. (not sure how it works since it started at 4 in the .ini file)
You still have to level up the base as normal to reach 30. The base number thing was increased just to let people (me) have more fun decorating stuff. You shouldn't exploit the higher numbers to break the game, but it's your choice if you do as it's your own fun that will be impacted.

Yeah we're not going to do PvP, although it could be fun to mess with at the end when people are done. The attacker has such an overwhelming advantage even if all other things were equal. PvP is why the Haven game has such a disappointing end, although this game has no death penalty so it's more of a minor annoyance.

The default is 72 hours for the giant eggs, but 1 hour base means it's 30 minutes with the right temperature and then you can get 50% more off by investing points in research. Expeditions take an hour, growing skill fruit takes an hour, getting the resources to feed pals or breed takes hours and so on. Unless you're level 60 with everything else done 30 minutes base is pretty reasonable I think.
Palworld is kind of built on resource management to a degree and time is a resource, so you can invest in lots of egg incubators to speed it along.

I am quitting until the hunger slider is turned to the minimum, I am tired of logging in to 60 different pals that are starving to death with depression. I'm not sure why you guys are having this issue when I purposely made it so my pals have to climb 3 different sets of stairs to deliver food or take a convoluted path to eat cooked food, just so I would see them more often.
Are you guys using the giant pals that are the size of buses? Those things are still retarded and clearly not meant to be used in bases that have any walls or stairs. It's part of the reason I made the pal limit per base so high, you could use a higher number of weaker (but cuter) pals.

If you're in the endgame of breeding this will make things less annoying and allow you to plan things out. You don't actually need to do this to beat the game I assume, but if you're, umm.. on the spectrum it's nice.

You can see each other out in the world sometimes, but also there's a global chat and you can team up, it's just not always ideal since drops aren't shared. Stuff like tower bosses can be done with multiple people as there's even a UI thing to make sure everyone is ready. It's fun to see other bases, too.
I would contrast it to something like Terraria where other people rushing through mean you can't take it easy due to everything advancing without you. You can remain at level 1 and only see the same monsters in the same areas forever if you wanted to.

I'll probably hit 60 in a few days. I've just been focusing on breeding stuff and decorating my house. I don't like most of the legendary stuff so I'm trying to breed cuter pals to use. It's a lot more work, but it's also a benefit that they can fit through doorways inside dungeons and houses.

Also I've been testing the Dr. Brawn guy. For people that don't know (including me two days ago) there's a rare spawn of an npc named Dr. Brawn that you can talk to every 3 or so hours to roll the dice. There's a chance he will increase the IVs of a pal and give you a new positive passive, or the opposite of both.
He completely destroyed the pal I bred after repeated attempts so it's not worth it. Interesting, though.

Due to an unforeseen problem with guilds (shared base cap) the base number is 14 now instead of "4". I'm not sure why the setting shows 4 when it's definitely 3, but I assume that means the number of bases is 13 or lower.

I don't think any mod that isn't purely a model swap will work on a multiplayer server hosted by someone else. I don't think any mod like that exists, either. Breeding is kind of meant to be a really awkward discovery process, although by end game when you want specific pals you kind of get tired of waiting to see what pops up, and that's with the breeding time being 1/72.

Yeah the "endgame" is basically doing oil rig 1000x trying to get the 0.48% drop on a decent legendary weapon, all the while constantly replenishing ammo because oil rigs are ammo blackholes.

At some point I propose servermin up the damage that players do to enemies. It's absurd how much HP the helicopter has considering the shit fucking rewards it drops most of the time. Also Xenolord is literally impossible to kill without a base full of lvl 60 alpha pals bred with perfect skills.

Yeah, that big tree has been looming there since its EA release and is propped up as the big, final area. The view distance in this game really enhances the atmosphere and you can see that giant tree island from so very far away. Once the game hits 1.0 mods will probably become more common, too. It seems like one of the issues with the latest content is that they didn't make any new legendary pals. The way they used to distribute the legendary recipes is from the bosses, although it was still like a 5% drop rate. I put a "base" by Jetdragon for easy teleporting and got the recipe I wanted.
Still having fun exploring and building, but I've visited the level 60 oil rig and I can understand the complaints.

The oil rig is definitely overboard with damage and health, but mostly health. I would like to draw breeding pals for defense passives, but the pathing on it is broken as it will attempt to fight an enemy that's 3 floors down (that it can't reach) and ignore everything else. There's not much for me to do outside of the oil rig and I've already vented my frustration about it.

If anyone is level 60 and wants to help me kill Xenolord let me know and I'll log on again. I built a base next to an area that will glitch his AI and we can spam laser gatlings to his face. Will need full vanguard gobfins, vanguard(optional) ice mount, and probably like 5-8k gatling ammo.

The upped the difficulty a bit when they turned the legendaries from the previous max level (50) to the current one (60). I'd say their stats are tuned more for more usage of stuff like essence concentration or laser weapons. It's still doable with a lot of time and careful avoidance of damage to you and pals.
Poison and burning works well on stuff above your level since it's percentage based, but it seems like enemies gain resistance to stuff like Dark Souls each time it procs.

Okay, weight was basically removed from the game. Hopefully that fixes your issue.
Unfortunately since I typed something wrong in the server file the pals per base setting reverted temporarily and apparently palworld's solution to that happening is to dump the extras on the ground.
This isn't a problem for people that stopped playing the game obviously, but for those that still are you should probably log on sometime soon and grab them from the ground if there's anyone important out working in your base past the first 15 slots.

I think I'm done. After a whole bunch of breeding and planning I tried Xenolord and he just wiped the floor with everyone. Teleported in the air so no abilities would reach him and then came down and killed 10 of them instantly. These were fully condensed pals with an additional +40%ish Defense/Health/Attack with strong passives. Maybe I'm supposed to run to the palbox and throw them all in when I see the charge up? Maybe, but that seems really awkward.
Blazamat Ryu was kind of cool, at least.
level 60 content is REALLY overtuned. Hopefully this stuff is improved in the next big patch, or at least the big final one.

The endgame is way overtuned and not very fun at all. I was hoping to be able to beat it via breeding and rocket launcher pals and stuff, but as I've said before it's just wasted effort. Sadly it's a pattern held by the oil rig and presumably the hard mode bosses.

- Due to a bug/unforeseen effect of guilds we had to drastically increase the number of bases allowed per player. From 3 to something like 9 or 12.
- Others didn't want to maintain a lot of different bases (it IS kind of annoying), so we drastically increased the unlockable pal numbers per base. From 15 to like 30. Big balance change when it came to raids and farming/etc.
-But the farming didn't matter because others refused to create bases more elaborate than straight lines and squares of tiny paths, so their truck-sized Pals got stuck and they told me to reduce and then eventually remove the hunger mechanic instead of making a larger base.
- Egg timer was reduced from 72 hours for large eggs to 1 hour. Sane breeding, basically.

We didn't play the "intended" experience, not by a long shot.
The mod I'm thinking of would simply allow a wider berth to build things so you don't need skyscrapers. Maybe we could also get a mod to relax the build requirements so we could build on top of water or in the air, too, just for fun. I've seen pics of people doing that and it would be neat. A base over water is something I was disappointed that I couldn't do. This is far less of a gameplay change than what we were already doing last time.

That's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy if you just want to rush the server up for your own benefit instead of waiting for a time that's more convenient for everyone to play as a group.

I thought about it, but that would also make the game really lame as it would eliminate much of the fun of becoming stronger and catching/breeding better Pals. I'm looking at ways to mod the game to make endgame less tedious, but they seem annoying to set up with third party scripting needed.

Also, I've decided to reach out to Wapchan and Hikari3 to see if they have anyone interested in playing Palworld! This seems like a good game for this, since you can play it for weeks, and it's quite casual and quasi-multiplayer with a chat interface. They added the Elden Ring wind launching thing to a lot of areas that makes it less annoying to traverse the world at low level. It used to be you'd have to slowly wall climb.
Made the pole, but can't do it quite yet. One of the lower level dungeons looked really different, and also they're really built up that one starter town. I wonder if it's true for the others. Lots of quests and Pals wandering around, looks a lot more like a town now.

I tested out fishing and it's alright. For as ubiquitous as they are in Japanese games, fishing minigames never really stood out to me.

Since someone was complaining about the endgame, here are some things I've noticed:
Spoiler because it's cool to find it yourself, but nonetheless:


1. Randomly spawning bases of the factions, level appropriate. Full of NPCs that spawn Pals and rare treasure chests
2. Weapon that buffs Pals when you target them or hurt enemies
3. Accessories that buff Pals
4. Healing Grenades
5. 4v4 (Player + 3 Pals) Ranked Arena against NPCs, Players are also there on the leaderboard so you can compete. Seems like it would take a while to to rise through the ranks. Has its own currency and unlocks.
6. Fishing has different Rarity glows, some guarantee rare skills
7. Pal Surgery Table to transfer skills and stuff. I noticed you can buy implants that confer skills, but they probably exist as drops somewhere too. Not high enough level to do any of this stuff.


All in all, seems like a great increase in what to do at high level and how to increase power. Maybe the raid bosses are doable now.
The oil rig probably still sucks, though, but you have less reason to be there, especially with an increased level cap.

I don't think there's a shared thing that allows multiple people to have different stalls unless they added with the latest patch. If not, we could designate some starting area with lots of space as a place to build empty bases to fill with stalls maybe?

I was seeing and using a bunch of them early on. There's a bunch of tiny template islands around and some of them you could reach on 'foot'. You can see the non-template islands from pretty far away.
The island I saw with the Terraria portal was level 45ish so you may want to go looking for that.
Since it's a water-themed patch I grabbed a water mount and noticed they have infinite stamina on water now so you can explore as soon as you get one of them and their harness made, and Surfent is around level 20.

For my own update in playing solo, I downloaded and set up all the mods I'm using and have the world rules how I want them... for now.

- 2x spawns (also triggers on bosses)
- "Vanilla Spawns Plus", a thing that adds more enemy variety and spawns so I see more types of Pals like the rare spawns on the sanctuaries that honestly have a very lame existence of just being a 5% spawn when you run in circles for a couple hours
- Predator Pals guaranteed spawn (two at once because of above change)
- Changes above combine and I regularly see a dozen Pals on my screen at once
- 2x damage done to me (not to my Pals)
- Soon installing a "everything hostile to me" mod
- 2x XP (turning off once I hit 30)
- 0 Durability Damage (low/mid level equip breaking after 1-5 minutes doesn't add anything to the experience)
- Build Restriction Remover (can build on water and stuff), Triple Base size, 50 Pal limit at max base level (will have to nerf myself for boss raids)
- Reduced Condenser Costs (I have to check if it's working though). Requiring 128 Pals total is just so absurd and it's so annoying to hatch and merge that many Pals in the UI. Last world I did this for like 20 Pals total and I don't want to do it again.
- Base invasions much more common
- Work skill book drop rate in dungeons from 0.1% to 10% (I want to use cute Pals as workers)
- Decorative Building Unlock (still uses materials, but I can build the pretty Japanese things already)
- Longer Food Buffs
- Legendary Recipe Drop Rate Buff (3% is absurd, now I can actually see the stuff before max level)
- All Pals now 50% Male/50% Female to reduce breeding grind
- A bunch of pervert mods because boobs make me happy

With some low level ice Pals that I got. I have a flying mount. I just realised that you can actually fly over water at ground level and ut treats it like land so you don't lose stamina.

I'll look for new islands again soon. But I have to rebuilt pretty much my entire vase now due to the pal I summoned destroying it.

Most of my XP in lower levels comes from exploring. But offhand:
- First 'catch' of a Pal species gives a lot of XP, and that includes buying them or fishing them up or hatching them from eggs.
- Similarly you get XP for each new Pal of a species until you get to 12. Breeding works well here, but you could also visit lower level areas with higher level Pal balls and just mass catch things at full health
- You get XP as Pals craft or harvest, so a base with lots of trees or mineral deposits gives you XP passively, and once you start mass producing things it really starts to get crazy
- Killing stuff in general, of course. The oil rings are good for that, but this patch added randomly spawning faction bases full of humans that each spawn a Pal, so clearing them out is good.

I am rebuilding my base in Glass, I also found this cool new pal called Tarantriss. She can be ridden but you can;t shoot form her, instead she has a web ability that acts like a grappling hook.

Also the default limit of 15 pals per base is nowhere near enough so I put it to the maximum of 50.

I was finding it hard to fight the enemies I was fighting as they are above my level so I wanted to buff myself.

I also wanted to buff the Pals attack. There are some other traits I might add to other Palls, like I might drop Stronghold strategist and add Spirit Emperor to Grass types pals as it adds 30% to grass attack.

Stuff like this I think? I was trying to keep them alive for the high level raids, but it didn't work.
The patch has introduced human-worth accessories to buff Pals, healing grenades and weapons to buff Pals temporarily so I'm eager to have another go at it.
This level of obsession is really just for the endgame stuff, though. Well, I'm hoping the arena is difficult since the in-game description says it is.
FIshing seems like a good way to get rare skills, so it may be faster than last time to build the ideal passive setup.
