>>7865God I hope not. I knew this was going to happen after they ruined GG. Lots of people went back to playing BB:CF and it was really nice because it got updated netcode patch thanks to the community hacking it in. Arc pretty much relented and made it an official patch for PC. So the last few years has been nice and many new people started playing. It's the last of the 'real' fighting games meaning the inputs haven't been totally dumbed down to appease people that don't play fighting games at all.
But the surge in new players led to a surge of people just showing up for
>the lorewhich is a bottomless pit in BB. I've been playing the games and have ran through the story multiple times along with watching the anime multiple times and all the side content for other games/manga/semi-offical doujin. Even I have no real idea wtf is going on half of the time because it's so convoluted and half the stuff gets undone mid-story due to the time travel/looping aspect.
So a bunch of people that don't play the game came in and started making shit up and camping all the wikis and such. So now no fun is allowed. Usual stuff that happened everywhere else. If you think Bridget was bad just wait until they try to do something with Mai or Platinum...
I'm hopeful the lolis and fan service might keep them away because I don't understand how they'd be able to market it to these no fun allowed people. But that probably isn't going to stop them from trying to cash-in. I _really_ hope they don't try to ruin the mechanics and kill CF. They already tried with BB:Tag and people hated it. The only people that play Tag hate all the other games.
Ironically, when BB first came out all the long time GG players called it a baby game for being too easy due to less buttons and simplified inputs. But compared to a modern fighting game BB:CF is like the last man standing on the input+combo front. It's the last game where you can actually express yourself through a character and where you see unique strategy instead of everyone just playing a flow chart.
At any rate, it sucks to see Mori gone still. It really hurts to get behind a game when everyone was shitting on it. Playing it quietly for years with other fans of the niche series. Trying to keep it alive to the point where we made our own netcode and improvements. Just to see all pissed away for an attempt to cash-in and appeal to people that claim it's awful for the characters, story and game play. If you're changing everything why not just make a new series instead of ruining an old one?
It keeps happening over and over again with my favorite Japanese developers. They make something great for their company. Company gives them the boot. Then steals the IP and whores it out and ruins it. Same thing happened to Mega Man. I just hope if Mori tries to go out on his own and make a new game it doesn't end up like the Mighty #9 fiasco.
