A new season's coming up soon, so it's time to do the usual look and see what's in store and maybe find what's good! It'll be especially crucial during this season since we're going to be cutting down on how much we let pass through the stream. Also, to keep in line with the purpose of /amv/, we'll be locking this thread about a week or two into the start of the season since it's mostly for looking ahead and not general discussion of all anime.

no, its just showing how pure gojo is. which contrasts with what marin thinks (and hopes) hes trying to do.

I can imagine something like the VN would be pretty graphic.
I thought Doki Doki Lit. Club was pretty eerie for doing similar kind of stuff and the whole "The Game Is Modifying Itself" and 4th wall breaking was very novel until Undertale did it.

It seems like a very normal reaction to someone who probably didn't know about the tropes and just spends all day painting dolls

Yofukashi no Uta ends with its better ED from the first season. Love it when anime do that.

Kinda gives the "this is the end of the adaptation" vibes

Did anyone keep up with Summer Pockets.
I checked a bit of the last episode and it kind of seemed like it went the way I expected, but I didn't get to see any of the buildup.

Was it worth?

Not really. Rather they should have adopted some of the other routes.

It was the last arc for me. Enjoyed Shiroha's cute shenanigans in the second last one, but the last arc was too boring, made me contemplate dropping it but I'm sticking till the end.
Kamome and Ao's arc were the best, wish they were longer.

 No.11041

If anyone here has played the VN, is there more to Ao and Kamome or does the anime cover it all?

Yeah, I decided to stop not because I hated it, but because I wanted to read the VN first. I had a couple things I want to do before I devote a few dozen hours to a VN, but soon... (this year)
If anyone else is planning to do the same, remember that there's a second version called REFLECTION BLUE that was a Japan-only released with a fan translation that adds more routes and scenes.
I will post about this in the VN thread when I start it later this year.

File:[SubsPlease] Onmyo Kaiten ….jpg (455.1 KB,1920x1080)

I'm going to just give a brief summary of shows I watched this season that no one else talked about and I didn't really feel like talking about either.

Onmyou Kaiten Re Birth: Time travel/rebirth stuff where the guy has to determine why the world keeps ending and who the ultimate villain is. Quite cheesy and unfortunately the first few episodes were quite weak before you knew what was going on. The mecha-like battles being 3D didn't do any favors. But, I liked it. The futurustic-yet-feudal Japan setting was pretty neat.
I probably won't remember it, but it was decent enough.

 No.11048

File:The.Shy.Hero.and.the.Assas….jpg (399.01 KB,1920x1080)

Kizetsu Yuusha to Anatsu Hime - Stupid, but fun show. Three girls want to assassinate their party leader who is essentially invulnerable, but they learn the value of friendship, kind of. The girls are quite cute and it includes some fan service for the bad taste people that like flat little girls.
It shouldn't have been as good as it was, but I guess the antics were just silly enough to work. It didn't really reach its stride until episode 7 or so when the gimmick was tuned down so you could appreciate the characters themselves.

 No.11049

File:[SubsPlease] Busamen Gachi….jpg (448.46 KB,1920x1080)

Busaman Gachi Fighter - Last but not least, the show with the gimmick where the MMO reincarnated guy is really ugly but has absurdly high stats. This show was deeper and more emotional than anyone would expect it to be. I was expecting it to be stupid and silly, but it actually became quite serious at times. It turns out that the people all entered the world through trauma from their former lives and it influenced their motivations and even the stats since they choose where to distribute them upon rebirth. Once they cornered a villain and discovered that It was an ugly girl in real life that wrote on her stat sheet that she would KILL PRETTY GIRLS and had to subconsciously follow that directive I knew it was going to be an interesting show.
If you're wondering how they solved that issue, the guy used dark magic to permanently blind her so she could never whether a girl was pretty or not and have the urge to kill them.
Also, the main girl was really, REALLY CUTE!

Okay, I think that's the three shows I watched but didn't talk about much.

File:mpv-shot0028.jpg (183.96 KB,1920x1080)

Anyone else feel the last few episodes were significantly weaker compared to the rest in nana ouji? Or is it just because I'm comparing it to expectations I had from reading the manga?
The animation quality for sure dipped though, I was hoping they were focusing efforts on the guitane scenes but it was stiff even for the finale. Can't help but wonder if there's been a change in teams or directors at some point

 No.11063

>>11062
Not just you. I think the whole season was weaker, other than maybe the first few episodes. Very noticeable drop in animation quality, a huge focus on minor villains who are neither fun nor interesting despite a lot of time put into their backstories, fewer jokes in general and not landing as well, and Escher's song being repeated a billion times... I didn't hate it, but the first season was way more fun. I'll probably still pick up the manga eventually

Mysterious white haired shouta at the end hinting at a third season and I'm all for it.

Yeah, started getting sick of it. No wonder Guitane hated it. Maybe if it had lyrics instead of just lalalas.

>Mysterious white haired shouta at the end hinting at a third season and I'm all for it.
The arc associated with that one is a lot of fun, though it felt a bit dragged out in the latter middle section
There's supposed to be an intermission arc showing Sylpha's past and how she met Lloyd, it always felt like a strong movie-bait so I'm guessing that if the second season sells well enough she'll get her own movie and then season 3

why is it so hard to get a good adaptation of chuuni material
if i had to sum mynoghra up it'd probably be the word apathy. i see anime get this treatment every once in a while and it hurts, why not just leave these stories to more willing studios if you're just gonna do a by-the-numbers adaptation like this?
