How different is Deltarune to Undertale?

I'll freely admit I picked up Deltarune specifically because I kept seeing spoilers and I thought it would be wiser to just play it as it came out
For me this has been a good decision but I heard some people got burnt out following the game when it takes so long between chapters

I suppose it comes down to whether you value the comedy or the more serious elements, chapter 4 is a lot more plot and drama heavy than chapter 3

It features characters from Undertale but there's (so far) no actual continuity between both games and (for the most part) the Undertale characters have been used as unimportant joke characters
Some of the themes from Undertale are revisited but the story is completely its own thing

Just torrent it. That's what I did.

Played it when it came out because I wanted to actually experience it rather than watch someone else play it and honestly its 100x better when you're playing blind and making choices yourself
also because 99% of the people that play this game are genuinely retarded and are unbearable to watch

I've played chapters 1 and 2, but I foolishly decided I wanted to wait until the rest is finished before I play any more because I hate having to wait years between chapters. I kind of doubt I'll be able to avoid having everything spoiled by the time the game is finished though... Oh well.
I loved chapters 1 and 2 though, and I've been hearing good things about the new ones (well, mostly about 4), so I'm looking forward to getting around to them one day.

I enjoyed the last two chapters but I don't think anything will quite compare to the sheer novelty of Chapter 1 when it dropped out of nowhere or discovering everything in Chapter 2.
I'm very excited to play the rest once they come out.

Chapter 4s suspense has been pretty good so far.
First hour takes place mostly in the light world again and they flesh out the post-credit scenes to actually build a series antagonist

Normally, I'd criticize the pace at which these chapters are being released but I understand it's due to Toby Fox suffering from chronic wrist pain. It's still a pain having to wait til next year for Chapter 5.

I really enjoyed all the Yume Nikki and creepypasta-like stuff in Chapter 3. Chapter 4 is narratively the most interesting and tense of the two but 3 is a big highlight for me.

I watched chptr 4 and I would say that while the story is much more consequential and they build up Sussie as being the real protagonist of DeltaRune, I thought it was very padded out in their dealings with the Dark world and focused mostly on action when it wasn't building up the narative.

If you mean the entire game we can't adequately sayas the game isn't finished yet (only chapter 4 out of 7)
If you mean just the most recent chapter releases, yeah they're pretty damn good
If you want to try the game now the first two chapters are still free (listed as a demo on steam) but if you want to wait for the full game it's probably going to take 2-3 more years
