I'm not sure, he's aware of obvious ones since there are anti-safespot measures: https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Anti-Safespot_Defensive_Behavior. Cirno's Icicle Fall is pretty notorious for that thanks to IOSYS, but on normal and above if you try to hug up right in her face she pops out some yellow danmaku to back you off. But for things like "stand in this specific spot to dodge everything" I think many of them are just things that slip through the cracks. The video here is only possible because Border team has the smallest hitboxes.

Yes it's possible, on easy modo. The problem comes with the slight variations to the spell card that makes higher difficulties only theoretically possible. The angles of bullets aren't totally static and Yuyuko herself moves a touch left and right which changes the origin point of the pattern.

I haven't really figured out the new gimmick yet, other than that you seem to get a nerfed Supernatural Border. The music felt like an upgrade. It seems ZUN's new favorite sample is that violin.
The gameplay is interesting. I get that it's supposed to have references to past incidents, but the gimmick is a little weird. Hopefully once it's figured out, there can be a way to avoid those WBaWC hypers or weird UFO-like summons that shoot shit at you. Also, during the stage 3 boss, I saw the grazed bullets were shaking like in 15, which I don't think they were doing before. It's really trippy but fun.

Stage 1 went relatively smooth for me as well, then it went all downhill in 2 and in 3 I completely got my ass handed to me.

A thing to note. Nareko is a dosojin who's meant to evoke a Sphinx design wise much like Chiyari with Chupacabras and Enoko with Cerberus. She's not egyptian herself and might have themed her outfit after the pyramid she's meant to keep an eye on to stop things from getting out

1cced the demo on hard and tried every shot type. Here are my thoughts.
¥game is harder than average
¥shooting feels like shit with 90% of the shot types because the popcorn fairies have way too much health like most other modern Touhou games
¥Marisa + emerald? (Sanae frogs) is by far the strongest shot type to the point where the whole game feels balanced around it
¥moon (either character) is good too because it clears some bullets while grazing and has a projectile reflecting hyper
¥the other yellow gem might be good too but the shot is weird and I couldn't get the hang of it
¥being able to customize your shot/hyper is cool but needing to get a clear to unlock a gem is dumb, especially since you need to get multiple clears to set more than one gem in different slots. If you need a clear in the full version, it's going to be even worse. At least unlocks are the same between Reimu and Marisa
¥the chain system doesn't really work with any shot besides Marisa + frogs because the damage is too low with other shot types
¥when you start getting longer chains pyramids start showing up more frequently which gives you more power items which help you kill enemies better which lets you get longer chains, etc. I think I was able to get 3 power by the end of stage 1 by killing a lot of those guys
¥the pyramids are beneficial even though they shoot at you since they clear the screen when you kill them. They also drop a shit ton of gems which builds up hyper really fast
¥hyper would be more fun to use if you could choose when to activate it instead of it going off by itself when the bottom bar fills up
¥not just scoring but clearing the game seems like it'll revolve around managing your gem pickups so you can activate pyramids (left bar) and hypers (bottom bar) at just the right time
¥ZUN said this was a return to form, similar to MoF, but all of the meters, chain system, and a whole bunch of customizable shot types make this one of the most complex Touhou games to date

I'm getting better at the stage leading up to Ubamu, but geez are her spellcards ruthless for a stage 1 boss. It comes at me so fast and with no clear pattern I can recognize yet, but at least she's a bit easier to get past than Chimi whose big circle I can't seem to find the path through, and the rainfall is awful, I think I'll have no choice but to bomb it. The flowers, while very hard, I think can be solved by figuring out how to trigger more chains via graze. Final one I just need to practice a bit more on but I can see the way through it and I just need to stay away from the edges. Haven't even touched Nareko yet.

I think one way to tweak them would be to prevent them from appearing during spell cards, and if they appear in non-spells reduce or even eliminate their bullets.
The only reason they should still appear is so they can drop life or bomb pieces, but maybe they should be nixed during the boss entirely and just saved to appear at the start of the next stage.

This seems to be the thing people want to see the most, myself included. Hell maybe that's why ZUN bothered to draw the different stones in the character portraits, then he can reuse it for their boss appearance.
If there was a branching story then we could get best of both worlds, vs. other protagonist in Stage 4 branching stage 5 + 6 so we get a ton of new characters

I remember someone pointing out that Nareko and Chimata are closer sisters because Sae no Kami (Nareko's likely inspiration) and Chimata no Kami were both made during the "Izanagi Yomi visit" event. There is also the fact that Chimata is based on the Ichigami and Nareko's surname is Michigami
