Let's give this a try. The game's known for being hard and takes a while to learn but essentially it's a turn-based strategy game and something of an autobattler, you watch cool armies from all sorts of ancient lore fighting.
Game's playable in multiplayer on a pirated copy as well, more info here https://pastebin.com/pzKYyX5P (legit copy works just as well).

I'll be posting some tips and general info about the game, next post will be about making a pretender (your to-be god if you win) and joining the game.

In the main menu you click tools & manuals or press g and then create a pretender, select early age. One nation per player. Different nations get different forms to choose from.
Once you choose a nation you can click on your god's icon to choose a different one (rmb shows info), press tab while on that screen for some more info like their magic paths and built-in scales (more on that later).

The screen is broken in 4 parts, from top to bottom:
Inanimates, these gods can't move (unless you unlock teleport and they can cast it), generally don't cost a lot and have some decent magic paths. I don't have a lot of experience with those but I think they basically sit in your capital researching/crafting/casting spells.

Titans, these need items if you want to fight with them, otherwise most of them will die pretty quick. Most of them become relevant mid to late game.

Beasts, early game expanders. These range from strong to very strong in combat (some are shit though), at least early versus independents. You're looking for high hp, high protection and maybe fear/regen/trample.

Mages, these are very cheap making it possible to turn them into rainbow mages (mages with a lot of paths). Easy to lose in combat but very useful for casting spells and site searching.

Next is magic, you need a certain amount in a path to cast spells. You can press s to see spells just to get a rough idea of what that looks like.

Bless is a buff that can be activated on any unit with a sacred tag by casting priest spells (I think your god always has the bless buff but I might be mistaken), you can make your whole strategy around those.

Next is dominion scales. Gonna take forever to go over all of them and I don't remember what all of them do exactly but you want no less than 4 dominion and preferably no misfortune.

Imprisonment is pretty self-explanatory, you can delay your gods entrance (if he's not very useful early on for example) to get some more points.

Important!
Remember to set a password, otherwise anyone can pick and play your nation.

Game's unlisted so we shouldn't be getting any randoms, you can take your time. I'll pick a map and settings depending on how many people we get.

Haven't played in a while so I might be missing on some fronts but here's how the turns go:

First your recruit. Select a province and press r, you'll need a fort(palisades) to recruit your nation units.

Cycle through commanders with n, give orders (space while having one selected for some more options other than move).

In any province you can hit t to config/script your armies, remember to hit the ? key there as well, game plays a lot better with hotkeys.

If you have mages (any commander with a magic path) you can move them to a province and hit space>site search to look for sites (or S), success depends on mage's paths. Once you have more mages you set of them to research by hitting R in any province with a lab.

E to end turn, that's the rough gist of it. In mp you can always load back and change your turn, unless you're the last one to submit.


I'd recommend to test your nations early expansion, you want it to go as smoothly as possible. You want to see what unit(s) you can spam to expand once a turn or so, more if you have an expander god.
Also important is building palisades asap and in proper locations. iirc you're looking for provinces with high pop. Forts soak up resources from connected provinces (which are used to recruit) so you want as little overlap as possible.

Win condition is capturing all thrones. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'm far from a good player and haven't played in a while but I know the game to an extent.

Very moddable from what I can tell. You can click on games on blitzserver, stuff under Downloads is either a map or a mod. From what I remember it's mostly (re)balancing and more nations. There's an all-mods-pack on csrinru and it's 5.5 gigs.

Forgot to mention that the game has simultaneous turns. You do your turn at your own time and submit it, once everyone submits host puts out the next turn. Generally it's 1 turn a day or so, we'll have no time limit to begin with though.
Another way to play is blitz, when you can get everyone available for a few hours to play a game start to finish in one sitting.

I don't know what the average turn count is but it might be around 70. The longer the game goes the less players it has as well so the turns might happen faster. Most people are in multiple games at once, although turns can take quite a bit of time to do later on.
Don't know if we'll be having multiple games at once, let's see if we can get one at least to start with.
It's gonna be a slow burn most likely though since not everyone has the same hours.

For a serious game I'd recommend no mods, at least not the 2hu mod since it is completely nutty. Take Mayohiga for example, Yukari as a pretender by herself and half assed scripting can solo independent armies and most early game player armies. Being what she is, she can also teleport anywhere, and once you get income for gap commanders, they can also do the same and teleport anywhere and bring pain by themselves. Only getting stronger as you progress your magic research and they get more spells to spam, and gaps to shit infinite bakenekos onto the field. Of course this is singleplayer, multiplayer I imagine would be much harder, but I can only imagine how close to heroes 3 bullshitium levels a competent player(s) can get with 2hu pretender gods and armies.

For EA Caelum you'll want something a little more active, what you have is okay for MA Caelum with some adjustments which I'll sperg here since I assumed that was the case earlier. As he is imprisoned it is going to be a long time before he'll come out and provide air shield or do anything with his high air magic. Since it's Caelum, you dont have much in the way of sacreds to put those blesses on since they're cap only plus a commander and whatever summons you might research later, so I'd drop air shield and much of your pretender's magic and focus on dominion scales. You can take or leave blesses for your cap units and summons, depends on if you want to focus on those or not. Dump your production a little and put that all into cold scales, you REALLY want 3 cold scales since a lot of your commanders have traits that scale with more cold, such as ice crafters. A little order can help too to counteract loss of income and you have the right idea of having high dominion since you depend so much on having a frozen hellscape to work with and fight over.
That's for MA Caelum and I dont want to waste what I wrote...

For EA Caelum you have a bit more in terms of sacreds so it's worth considering getting a nice bless. You can dip into turmoil or sloth since your troops are not as resource intensive as other nations and it give more points for a stronger bless. Bump up magic scales a bit so your casters become much stronger inside your dominion. As for their magic and blesses, you can get some pretty good ones if you go with glamour. Obfuscate is super nasty since you can make your sacreds stealthy, and since they can all fly it is a horrific experience to your enemies since you can raid with impunity. Displacement would also make them far harder to hit. Chill aura would also be incredible for your defensive temple guard as they are already pretty tough, and then become very tough in cold while also wearing down the enemies they fight.

Either way, you have a ton of flyers, make use of that mobility as they will get stomped by meeting a traditional army fair and square or on their terms. Be a disgusting little shit and run circles around them and take their lesser defended provinces.

This is also true, pretenders built right can expand by themselves and level out armies. The difference, is how high the ceiling goes. Earth serpents, krakens, and dragons are all well and good, but once your opponents start outfitting their commanders and mages with magic and artifacts, suddenly they cant compete like titans or rainbows can with their own menagerie of spells and gear gained later.
Dai-Oni are busted, but yomi will struggle to mass them early because of the huge costs and they cant be everywhere. As demons you have ways to counteract them too. Really no worse than niefelheim rolling in with a army of giants.
Yukari is just free with stupid bullshit and actually can be everywhere.

Very important, it's the name of the game after all.
So imagine you have two borders. You have your physical territory borders and then you have your dominion borders. Your dominion is your deity's influence and how many people worship them. Losing all your territory should be obvious, but if your dominion is extinguished then you also lose despite having a physical empire because your deity has no faith and fizzles out.
What those stats mean is how each province is influenced by your pretender god's dominion. A high dominion (the candle) is one that spreads hard and is incredibly difficult to remove, the scales are the effects it has on those provinces in your dominion, so for your case it is 1 order, 1 productivity, 3 cold, 1 growth and neutral luck and magic. Your dominion will then press the provinces under it to conform to those scales.
You'll also pick things up as you go, this game is VERY in the weeds on autism.

If you haven't played before 1st turn might be a good time to set your reasearch so you don't forget (F5). Maybe make your 1st commander into a prophet (spacebar), he'll spread dominion and he's also stronger in your own dominion, same as your god.

t to set up armies
b to check for mercs
e to end turn
? in any given screen for relevant shortcuts

In long-term games like these you can always come back and adjust your turn if you're not the last person to submit. You can also mark your turn as unfinished in menu, it'll go through when the timer runs out but you can adjust it anytime before that.

Yeah. Thug is when you take your god or some other very strong commander and invest a shitload into them with magic items. Basically take them and steamroll where they can. Ideally you want to find something that can do that cheaply and spam the hell out of them, but making something incredibly expensive for tackling player armies works too.
Also, the astral players dont want you to know this, but you'll want to have astral 5 or 6 on the people you really care about like pretender gods so some dipshit cheap astral mage doesn't instakill them in a magic duel. Either high astral or none at all.

So that means that province still have some remaining resources that are not being used. The only way to deal with it I can think of is to submit last and rollback if it's borked. Everyone's turns are submitted anyway but set to unfinished, all I have to to is resubmit mine and forcehost, nobody will even notice that something went wrong then.

So I probably overdid cold resistance because I wasn't sure how much was needed for chill aura.
He got surrounded and had issues with defense rolls.
Because he knew magic he started casting thundertouch sometimes which wasn't good strategy

But he didn't get any fatigue penalties, his HP was fine and the regen was very strong given his base HP that let him kill an extra one

As my research is finally starting to ramp up, I lament the fact that I wasn't able to get this started earlier to contest Ermor properly. This nation's ability to scale through actual income is amazing, You should start to gather up your troops near my capital if you want to deathball v deathball because at this rate of research increase it's only 3 turns until I get where I need to be.

Since it was pretty obvious what spell you were going for I researched antimagic while we were waiting and cast that + set all my priests to cast unholy protection (MR buff) instead of unholy power like theyve been doing the rest of the game

Blood vengance I think remembers the caster and killing the caster ends battlefield effects, but evocation rituals allow you to attack that from provinces away. And the higher density the army the more effective they become.

I'm honestly surprised my research wasnt lower, I was using almost all my mages for combat since starting war with China
Otherwise this shows off my favourite graph of army size, putting into perspective just how tiny every one was compared to my infinite skeletons

I'm pretty sure after I killed China the only chance humanity had to stop me was if Nid Man and Marignon all attacked more in sync
Given how big and wealthy Nid was when he started fighting me things may have gone differently if I had to fight Man and Mari at the same time, but they only jumped in after I killed any dangerous army Nid had
There was one other chance humanity could have at least slowed the skeletal domination when Man had killed my 2k~ skeletons that I sent to fend off his initial attack since I had nothing else strong nearby to defend myself but after he killed them he started playing defensive since I had some trash skeletons sneak on his capital from underground

Maybe I could have attacked more, but you had too many units underground and I didn't have enough units to defend everywhere. Even still, if I attacked out then to what end. I needed to get units who could take on the subterranean, but best I had was some lesser buffs for 50% dark vision.
My ideal was someone else was going to be able to prevent you from massing lots of units then I attack underground when I have some demons and blood summons to form a main attack.

So my reasoning was that I had no option other than give up my capital or defend it and hope there were enough people to give you trouble.

Though not as restrictive as the sea, fighting in the dark is still limiting.

Also I'm wondering what people's thoughts were on having just tier 3 thrones everywhere. From my point of view they were too strong for most of the game and it was difficult to justify gathering up a strong enough force to take them, particularly when you are already in the middle of fighting someone.
