Dekin no Mogura was really a great gem, very glad I continued it. Started the season questioning if I should watch it but the show was far better than I could have ever hoped for.
This interaction between the Dagashiya and Magi in the latest episode was really exactly as Magi explained it to be: bizarre.
I could feel the tension in the air myself. The Dagashiya is a very mesmerizing person, but the interaction itself felt very unsettling.
Then mogura's entry at the end of it all was also exactly as Magi describes it, he lifted off the heavy atmosphere just by appearing.
This season really was a great one, with good sequels as well as newer ones.

Yeah, it was my favorite show this season. I just used someone else's /jp/ thread to talk to myself about it since it didn't seem to have widespread appeal. I love when mythology, particularly ones I'm not familiar with like Japanese, are included in a show.
Add in the great character interactions, the creators obvious background in Japanese traditional art and it's a recipe for my favorite kind of show. Good understanding of psychology in it, too.
The only thing it was really lacking was an emotional punch, although it not all shows need to be tearjerkers. Just authentic interaction in supernatural scenarios are enough.

Haven't seen the final episode yet, but I'm sure it will be good. I need to look for the manga...

Are eyes drawn like that often in the show? I like serious slanted eyes.

No, she's the only one. And she rocks them well I must say.

There's a good variety of eyes. Some girls look a bit generic, but others quite unique.

Alright, I finished the last episode finally. Nice ending, sort of. Kind of a non-ending.
I had a feeling that I knew what this woman was doing, so it was nice that the show eventually circled back to her and also gave some explanation of other stuff. I really do enjoy all of the characters in this show. If someone missed my thread of me talking to myself about the show I did it here: >>>/jp/99482

Seems like the manga is still ongoing, so that's something I'll have to look into. I don't even know where to get manga these days, though, if it's not on a torrent site.
I'm tempted to host a stream with the original creator's other anime adaptation: https://anilist.co/manga/66113/Hoozuki-no-Reitetsu/

The character in the cover looks like the black cat Nekozuku, already forgot the names...

She has a background in traditional Japanese art so all of her stuff seems heavily influenced by it, which is really cool!
Oh, I just realized I linked the manga and not the anime adaptation: https://anilist.co/anime/20431/Hoozuki-no-Reitetsu/
It has a second season and an 4 episode OVA, so I'd need a month of streaming this stuff if I decide to do it. Hmm... demons... October... Halloween...
I'll watch a few episodes soon and see if it's stream material.

I would indeed like to watch it.

Alright, yeah. Unless it's somehow really terrible (which it shouldn't be) I can start making plans.

 No.11314

Huh, episode 6 of the OVA got translated for the first time two weeks ago. That's 6 of 7 episodes. Interesting...

The first few episodes I had to get used to the art style but afterwards this became one of my favorites for this season. There was a nice blend between the groundedness of modern Japan and the supernatural that made it feel natural. The character interactions also was top notch.

Didn't want to make a new thread for it, but yeah this Hoozuki show reminds me so much of the Mogura show. Season 2 is stronger than season 1 and it's focused on a lot more stories of mythology and history.
Definitely recommend it if you like Dekin no Mogura. I knew most of this stuff about Halloween since it's a Western thing, but learning about Asian mythology is still novel to me so it's very engrossing.
